Angry Revenge after someone damages your car?

Over the years I have had many things happen to my cars such as having my '69 camaro ruthlessly keyed (by my "friend"), antenna bent in half, BMW keyed down the side, new car backed into by truck, and a-holes who bang your car with their door. I have yet to ID anyone who has dinged one of my babies, but when I (one day) will, they will see a monster-size dent in their car. Has anyone ever exacted revenge in this manner before?

No..but I've also fantasized about it for years...all those ripped off car stereos back in the 70's. If I ever caught someone in the act he'd "pay" for all of them ;-)

This is too weird. I understand your pain (2 week old car was keyed in NoVA), but revenge is stupid. Hooking the perps up with the police is better, IMO.

I would consider revenge if they mess with my "babies" meaning my wife and kids.

The cars, well, they can be replaced.

You can do things in the heat of the moment that you would never do under normal situations. Riding my motorcycle after a terrifying near miss... a whiskers breath away from death ...by a stupidly careless driver I rode along side and planted my 10.5 cleated boot hard against the driver’s door...the deep dent…the shock and fear on the drivers face as they sped away was very very very satisfying.

Revenge is a good way to lower yourself to the level of the person you are angry with.
You need to ask yourself if you want to be better than them or just like them.

It's funny you bring this up, because I just engaged in this type of behavior. I was Christmas shopping in my POS daily driver and came out to find a huge S class MB parked so close to me and at such a diagonal angle that I couldn't even get in the driver's side door. After crawling through the passenger side door and over the center console, I looked in to see the seat about 4" from the steering wheel (woman driver or midget) and totally lost it. All I could see was red. So I opened my door (about 6" was all I could get) and keyed the everloving $h|t out of the passenger door. After driving forward over the parking block and median to get out (couldn't back up) I pulled out of the parking lot totally ashamed and embarrassed. But after the shame wore off, the feeling of "payback" that washed over me was simply indescribable. However, I don't think I'll ever pull that maneuver again....

A "friend" had parked at a beach and when he was ready to leave he had found that someone had blocked him in. After waiting a considerable amount of time to see if the offending person would show up, he and a couple of friends were able to scoot the car in the gravel far enough for him to back his car out. But before he left he cut 2 of the guys valve stems off.

This post (and the actions that people are describing on it) is really scary.

It's not like we don't have enough violence and destruction in the world. Now we're going to add more as a result of our cars???

it's simple , if somebody comes to me , and says that so and so is sleeping with the fishes, and the one who did it refused the offer he couldn't refuse, then it's time to go to the matrasses. It's not personal , it's business , the only way to do it is to keep your friends close, and your enemy's closer

EDIT : and Fredo should have known better, he had it coming

SoCal911SC,

Yeah, looking back on it the embarrassement has returned. Like I said, I don't think I'll ever pull that again.

But here's how I see the situation: Driving a car is a big responsibility. It means abiding by rules & laws, paying attention, and respecting your fellow driver. That's what makes the whole system work. When someone pulls into a parking spot so close to another car that that driver can't even pull out of their spot, much less get into their car, then there's a breakdown in the system. That person has broken the rules in a very selfish way and has placed their priorities over everyone else's. Looking back, I think that's what made me snap.

When I was a kid I went to a Raider game in Oakland with my dad. After the game, we were given the green pedestrian walk OK sign and a herd of us started to cross the street. Some jerk in a car figured he could "nudge" his way through the pedestrians. When his bumper touched my leg (very softly, I wasn't hurt) I heard a violent crash. My father, a huge man, brought his fist down in the center of the guys hood, completely collapsing it. He got out of the car enraged, but jumped back in quickly after he saw my dad. He locked up his car, rolled up the windows and prayed for my dad to leave, which he did.

If they would actually do anything about it....... Cops around here won't even go after drunk uninsured drivers that plow into your car and drive away. Yeah that happened to me.

While I have dreamed of revenge in the manner some people have described I would never follow through. I just cuss a little and move about my way.

If there are no consequences, how will people learn to obey rules and manners?

If there is no one but you to impose consequences on rude people, don't you owe it to society to do so?

Osidak and Rallyjon- Great points. If someone carelessly damages my pride and joy without regard, and I am sure who did it, I will graciously return the favor tenfold.

[cynical]Yeah, vigilantee-ism should be the law of the land. Look at someone the wrong way and get capped. Yeah, let's go back to the 1800's. That would be just perfect.[/cynical]

Some of you guys are friggin' scarey.

Jim- I knew it was a matter of time until someone like you would take this point to make a extreme, blanket generalisation.
