Talking What this country needs

Is a movie about gay cowboys!

Honesty I'm not sure what to think about this... on one hand it seems to make as much sense as Nemo on ice. On the other hand I'm no homophobic, I have/do work with gays and have at least one friend I grew up with that is/was gay (he kept switching teams) and I have no problem with what consenting adults do behind closed doors.

I know almost nothing about the movie except the flap it has made in the media. Has anyone (dare I ask) seen it? Is anyone here going to see it?

Was watching a review of the movie recently. The person doing the review said that until it got the straight guys in the Mid-West going to see the movie that it would not be a success.

Well.... I just have no will what so ever to go and see a movie about two cowboys in Montana or Wyoming having a love affair, not to mention their buggering each other. It may have happened but if it did it sure has not gotten out otherwise we would have two dead cowboys.

Hollywood seems in love with it but reality and Hollywood are rarely together in one place. Just hope that it does not ruin the career of the two main actors.

As far as I'm concerned, I already have more information than I need just knowing the plot line. We demonstrated quite a while ago that the gay/lesbian lifestyle is touching every social, ethnic, religious, economic, demographic........disection of life. I just hope they leave the horses alone. This too shall pass.

I think I'll just pop in a DVD of "Three Days of the Condor" and fire up some microwave popcorn andl leave it at that.

I may have missed something in recent times but who is the last actor who has gone into the shi$$er for playing a gay role, usually it creates a career breakthrough for them.

None that I know of but then I am not an expert on gay/lesbian movies. Its been mentioned by several reviewers that this is going over the line for most viewers and wondering if the guys will find work in a normal role after this movie.

Maybe they will be forever typecast as gay cowboys? I haven't seen a movie in the theatres for quite some time, and I sure as hell won't waste my money to see men making out on the range. Just another case of Hollywood trying to push it's twisted ideals upon the rest of the country. What others choose to do behind closed doors is their business, but I have no desire to watch.

Kevin Spacey and Tom Selic did a movie about gay or mistaken gays. It was a funny movie but touched on some serious aspects of the topic. Somehow I think this cowboy movie is a different animal, I'm not inspired to see it at the moment.

The only movie I have seen in a theater in the last 10 years is Gladiator. Probably would not see this one, I am sure it is spiritually uplifting and all, but if I am watching a cowboy movie, I expect them to be riding the horses, not each other. Besides, if I want to see a movie about transexual lounge singers, or somebody figuring out they are homosexual, I can see all I want on the Independant Film Channel on basic cable.

In Hollyweird, conservatives and Christians are to be demonized, homosexuals and Islamics glorified...warped.

This is a skin flick I will not see. I wouldn't be surprised if the NEA folded it into the the first grade curriculum.

This movie may give a whole new meaning to the phrase roping and riding.

Most of my info on this movie has come from Leno and Letterman however last night I saw a short write up that said one of couple is portrayed as a rodeo rider. I have always thought of rodeo guys as being some of the baddest (and craziest) guys on earth. I wonder how that is going over?

That never stopped a few guys in the NFL from flaming out over time. Where do you think they got the term "Tightend"

Aren't these cowboys sheep herders? Why are they called cowboys if there aren't any cows? Rump rangers maybe but no cows no cowboy. I work with a couple of real cowboys and they are not amused about the idea of any cowboy being gay. One of them is an ex bullrider. He is as physically beat up at 43 as any NFL player I've heard of.

Who gives a ***** if any cowboys have been gay, or if there's a movie that's been made about it. I'm sure that in the history of the world, two men who have worked in the agricultural industry have had a bit of a go at each other. It's just another movie & it's quite amusing to see the reaction to it. No one is pushing ideals or a lifestyle. No one is being forced to watch it. As far as movies go, it touches on a pretty raw nerve (as reactions in this thread show) which is often the intent of producers/screenwriters/authors etc. Interestingly barely a flutter here down under especially given that one of the main actors is from here.
I'll probably see it at some point as most of his other movies have been pretty good (aside from the medieval one).
