Ever see a $10k SIG?
I did an IDPA shoot last night, where a rep. from Sigarms brought little toy for us to try out.
I got my a$s handed to me, mainly because it's been about 5 yrs. since I practiced drawing at the range and firing double action with the hammer decocked. You'd be amazed by how many people completely missed the target 4' in front of them because of this. This is a fed. and so outshot the rest of us, I felt like I had brought a knife to a gunfight. Lots a fun, but sorta like a DE too - lot of standing and waiting around, shoot for 10 seconds, wait some more. Very edumacational though.

If you go to the range beforehand, practice double action!

U just seem to have all the fun!!!!
I can't get hold of a decent gun -we don't have such activities North of the border. Basically, you can ask to try something that another gun club member has brought in - while you are there. Certainly nothing exotic.

I haven't seen a $10k Sig, but I've shot a $15k H&K (guy I know in Dallas has an MP5SD... I got to hose a few magazines out of that puppy... )
There's a group down here that does IDPA, and 'Tactical Carbine', which is based on IDPA rules and scenarios. They're pretty laid back with the rules except the safety rules, that is. They're not HARDCORE competitors that try to get others disqualified if their mag carriers are .5" too far forward or crap like that. They're just doing it to have FUN. And MAN, IDPA and the carbine matches are FUN!!

IDPA events are very challenging given the scenarios that so differ from target shooting.
I was a hog on ice my first IDPA experience...lots of room for improvement

I've shot IDPA once a month since last August. It's really a blast, and very educational. I've learned to handle my firearms much better through IDPA. There's usually about 25 people in the match. When I started I was in the last 2-3 spots, now I'm a solid mid-pack. I'm hoping to break into the top ten by this spring/early summer. Quite a challenge. I started out using my Browning Hi-Power (9mm), and the last couple matches I've shot my .45. I enjoy IDPA very much, and highly reccommend it to others.

Only abnormality is that it's been refinished, so it's grey instead of black.

Is Fairfax near Winchester VA? It looks like I will be moving up that way and would love something to keep my shooting skills up. I know the NRA has a headquarters in VA or MD somehere near there right?

My Sig just arrived today
This is the Sig P239 I just bought from my brother's coworker (cop). It has only been fired once, but I'll take it to the range this weekend!

Congrats Art. I had a P245, but just couldn't get used to the short grip. SIG has another compact .45 (P240) coming out in a few mos., which is supposed to replace the P245.
Just picked up my first 9mm in about 12 yrs. about an hour ago. Can't wait to give her a workout.
