Who says cops need to follow the laws they enforce?

to expand on what Jim is saying - in WA you aren't allowed to have a personalized plate that resembles a ham radio call in - only Police Officers are allowed to have 'em on private vehicles.

It's an easy way to mark who the off duty cops are. I wonder why they would do that?

My cousin is a firefighter - routinely speeds - on more than one occasion he has gotten pulled over, only to disclose he's a firefighter and a DMV tester and you know what?

He has never gotten a ticket.

"professional courtesy" he says....

There was a case not too long ago where a guy was following a cop on a deserted highway for like 20-30 miles at speeds in excess of the posted limit. The cop eventually stopped and ticketed him. Guy contested and lost.

The court said that cops are permitted to go faster than the limits becaue otherwise they would always be in the same "vein" of traffic and could not catch speeders ahead of them!

I carried a badge for a few years. Used to keep my license in the badge wallet. I didn't exactly flash the badge, I'd just open the wallet out to get my license, and would always be asked "what's the badge?" Never got a ticket. Never.

Once I cut off an undercover cop in a state far away from mine, then gave him the finger for good measure. Still didn't get a ticket.

Why on earth would you think that???? I don't derive enjoyment from others' illegal actions. I just recognize people who willingly break the law are bringing punishment on themselves. it's a personal responsibility thing.

I agree, Jim. But that still doesn't negate what I said. If anything,, it bolsters it.

My average speed has decreased about 20 mph since the 55 limit was done away with. Curious??
