Watch out where the huskies go.....

Wrecked944 02-08-2006 12:58 PM

In the winter months I usually park the Porsche 944 and switch to the Porsche 964 C4...:D

I haven't shovelled my driveway in years. The 964 laughs at snow.

A post about suggestion to do in the winter followed by posts from warm weather inhabitants on how they don't have to deal with it. How predicatble. It's like their trying to justify their overpriced cost of living or something.:D

Skiin'! :D Killington on Saturday, can't wait.

Have had the Porsche out about twice or so in January due to mild temperatures, otherwise, in between routine activities, I play chess. Right now am enjoying the Playchess/Chessbase chess server online.

Spend the evenings working in the garage, (I bought a 1970 t with a lot more rust than I thought)
A lot of other time is spent skiing, for you people who live where there is no snow you don't know what you are missing. If you love driving your car or motorcycle on a winding road you would love to ski.
A plus about living in the great white north is experiencing all the seasons.

its never the snow or the salt for me

my 924S just runs so badly in the cold weather that we put it in storage for the winter and i drive my Xterra

FL is flat. Until you reach Ocala, the only large hills are garbage mounds stuck beside the turnpike. Twisties? Hahaha. Not to mention extreme humidity for 9 months of the year with a good dose of hot mixed in and of course, hurricanes. And traffic. 90 yr old blue hairs mixed with FL-style ‘ricers’ all clogging your straight – very, very, very straight - boring roads. And that’s for 12 months of the year. Oh yeah, & you get extra traffic as we all come down & jump in Mustang rentals & scream around in the winter & the summer months visiting Mouseland & beyond.

We know the truth.

End Rant :)

I could not agree with you more. But, there are some nice roads to carve up. You just have to know where to find them. Plus, wee do DE's all year long and Autocrosses as well, So there!!

I ended up buying a house in Western North Carolina near Procon so I can get away from the hot hot hot summers in Florida. I also have someplace to go when the Hurricanes come. (notice I did not say IF) We named the house Category 5 because it is our new residence after the fateful Cat 5 storm levels our home.

Hi Jim

Well, I haven't found those roads in S Florida yet. The only one I liked so far was Hwy 60 from Tampa thru Yeehaw to Vero Beach. Biggest Dude Ranch in America! + Panther Crossings! For that one I would like a real car rather than the rent-a-pig I always pilot. I have to do some more inner routes since the freeways are so numbingly boring. Please make suggestions.

I drive the whole state calling on the Sound Advice stores (amongst other stores & states) so I know it well. I'll be down to the greater Miami/Broward area in 2 weeks for a couple of days so pray to the weather gods for me.

Yeah, hurricanes scare the crap out of me & I don't even live there. I've been brushed by some outer edges a couple of times on roadtrips in FL & TX. And I just gave up LA & MS as territory - business is flatlined until they get back on their feet.

Glad you didn't take offense to my rant. ;)

I feel sorry for you guys that have to put up with the snow. It was a warm and sunny 72 degrees up here. I took a drive in the twisties with the top down! Wooowhoo!! Oh, and there was no traffic either. It was so nice to smell the smell of spring.. the warm air... the 911's sound.... flowers blossoming... etc.
I'm sure imcarthur loves me. ;)

Ok guys, the snow fell last weekend, not much, but enough for the salt trucks to get out and spread the "stuff". This year I'm putting together a model of the 1971 Le Mans winning 917. I got it for christmas from my inlaws. I havent put a model together since the 70's, and I cant believe the parts, the painting, the time it takes for this project. If you ever want a model, buy one thats already put together. The garage is too cold to use, the "rose" just sits there, and my bride keeps reminding me of my promise to "get things done". Oh well, its not that long until spring. But "where are the birds"

Have fun at Kmart. Good look getting up and back with whats in the forecast for saturday. And all you guys who dont live where you can ski are deffenitly missing out. Anyways during the winter when I can't drive the porsche because of the snow I'm at school and wouldn't be able to enjoy it very much anyways.

I spent the entire day on storm debris clean up and mowing the lawn. As sore as I am right now? Wish I'd been snowbound...

masraum 02-08-2006 07:58 PM

Winter??? Snow???

Here in Houston we don't have winter, we just have the time between fall and spring. The past couple of weeks have been sunny and in the 70's. I think we've had a couple of nights that got into the 50s, brrrrrr. I had the top down on the miata today.

Funny thing is that we had a white Christmas a year ago. A freak storm hit Christmas Eve, and some areas near Houston got 12".

Don't feel too jealous. I don't actually have a 911 to sit in regardless of the weather. At times I'm pretty sure I'd trade you snowbound fellas.
