What are you snowed in guys doing?
I am going cabin crazy. I went out to the garage and just sat in the porshe yesterday. How sad is that. How do you guys who store your cars in the winter make it though? I am counting days until this snow and ice is supposed to disappear.

Sad it is. I usually sit in mine a couple of times a week. Taking in the atmosphere in the coupe. The light smell of oil, the gauges, fondling the wheel... Over two months now since the old girl and I had a go at it.

Phone clients and explain I'm working on their procedures and controls. Make pots of coffee laced with rum and work on novel.
Buy stuff from amazon and other on-line merchants and enjoy efforts of couriers to deliver in ice and snow. Work through dvds and books I've been hoarding for just this time. Shoot pine cones from porch with an airpistol. Check the thread on snow tyres and that I have chains, shovel and axe in the 911. (blanket, chocolate, cellphone and whiskey are also a good idea). Go for a drive.

It's not the snow that keeps the old E in her garage this winter, (its been extraordinarily mild) but the salt on the roads. I don't want to send salty moisture into the hidden places of 37 year-old sheetmetal. I converted the tensioners over to pressure-fed this winter, so now I'll wait another couple of months for the rain to wash all traces of the nasty old salt off the road. I know of a couple of tunnels under the main road where the echo of the exhaust note of the flat six can send chills up your spine. Sigh!
In the meantime, I'll play guitar, read, work on the material for the training courses I have contracted to give and watch the days get longer. Yes, being semi-retired is nice! ![]() Les

Well, if we actually had snow this winter, I would be riding my snowmobile, pulling the kids over a ski jump with the ATV, flying in my ski equipped ultralight, ice skating with my kids on the pond etc etc.
Instead, I am working on daughter #1's new to the family 924S (power steering racks are no fun to rebuild!). I want snow! I want snow!!! I want SNOW!!!!!!!

I ALWAYS have some sort of project going on. Since I do most things myself it takes a long time to get it done usually. The winter time is a good time to do inside stuff as you know. Like I've been framing up my basement and hanging some lights. I'm trying to finish the basement. This is the second winter on this project.
I'll make a list of stuff I want to do P-cars. That list doesn't EVER seem to end. ![]() If I had TONS of free time and ran out of stuff to do I would find a hobby to keep busy. That probably won't happen for me though cause I have tooooooooo many hobbies. RC cars, trucks, airplanes, woodworking, model building, P-car. etc, etc, etc........

25 Degrees in Eastern NC this morn. Just jumped in the car and went to work. Grew up in MI. Have no desire to move any further North now. Summers are wonderful here, hot and steamy, and winter only lasts until Mar. Hell last week it was 60 degree on the way home. The top was down that day. Ahh what a nice February day that was. Everyone who is snowed in has my condolences.

Just spent a week in sunny so-cal with a quick trip to Vegas or Carrot Top at the Luxor and a short visit. You lower 48 guys don't know real cabin fever though so stop complaining and get outside and do something.

The winter is tough for me as I store "Helga" until around Easter. I try to get home projects done and concentrate on other hobbies (brewing, target shooting, etc...) until the warm weather returns. I do miss driving my 911 in the winter, but there's no way I will drive in the salt/snow/crud...

Camped on the beach at Carpinteria (just south of Santa Barbara) over the weekend. Wifey drove the Highlander with the camping trailer, I drove the Targa. Drove up the coast for an hour with the top off, mid 80s and sunny.

I used to laugh at everyone up North in the winter while I have sunny warm days here in Florida. Then we started getting pounded by hurricanes year after year. Now I wonder if I could deal with the cold.

My son (5yrs old) has been loving this snow- he got a snowboard for xmas and this is the first time he's been able to use it. We are finishing some model rockets as well to fly out on the ice, we lost about ten rockets this year due to wind and trees, easier to find on the ice when the snow isn't deep!

With two young boys my winter is filled with hockey, skating, sledding, dreaming of living somewhere warm... and recently, for some reason, drinking martinis.

Start Rant
Whenever there is a post about winter, why do the CA & FL feel they have to jump in & tell us how much fun they're having while our cars are in storage? We know the truth. CA is clogged with traffic, smog, more traffic & asinine real estate prices. Not to mention fires, earthquakes, mud slides & too d*mn many people & Arnold. Sure you have some nice twisties but they’re clogged with traffic except early in the morning. And that’s for 12 months of the year. Did I mention that there are too many people? CA was really nice in the ‘50s (I was there) but . . . FL is flat. Until you reach Ocala, the only large hills are garbage mounds stuck beside the turnpike. Twisties? Hahaha. Not to mention extreme humidity for 9 months of the year with a good dose of hot mixed in and of course, hurricanes. And traffic. 90 yr old blue hairs mixed with FL-style ‘ricers’ all clogging your straight – very, very, very straight - boring roads. And that’s for 12 months of the year. Oh yeah, & you get extra traffic as we all come down & jump in Mustang rentals & scream around in the winter & the summer months visiting Mouseland & beyond. We know the truth. End Rant ![]() Ian
