a GT40 disease

I think I have it ,I cant neglect their site,, they are light,2000 lbs, for 25,000 bucks plus some extras like tranny, eng (cheap) wheels, I could own a real race car and blow the eng once a year at hardly no coast when compared to my P car..... anyone else getting a temperature??....
What I would like is some input if you have ever owned one of these or have any input on the various vendors that sell the replicars....or what ever you know
thanx

I'm sure he meant a picture of the of replica you are thinking of building.

Personly,Factory Five's GTM powered by a Vette V8 sounds pretty good to me, although its not a GT40 replica.

If I where to do a replica car, it wold like be a Ferrari 250 of some sort, probably the SWB California Spyder. Although a Series ! or II GTO or Lusso wouldn't be bad either. P3/P4 would also be ok, but I wouldn't build it to scale due to how tall I am.

My parents' neighbors have 3 Factory Five cars....2 street cars (1 coupe, 1 'vert) and a full on race car. Factory Five itself is only 40 min away from their house...

Grassroots Motorsports had a great article on FF cars a few years back...check the website bc I bet its in the archives.

God knows 87-93 5.0's are dirt cheap to begin with and you can sell off everything you don't use...

The disease will not let go. I think it might be ....not cureable..oh well suffer thru............and I have to agree if sex and car were to be ever used in a sentence the GT has to be the one.!!

To solve the ignorance part.

240Ci V12, top speed upwards of 200MPH. The GT40's suprior on most tracks of the world. The GT40 was aiemd at Le Man's, whereas the 330 was aimed at the championship and lemans, so althogh the GT40 with its much morem asive powerplant could win on Le Man's long straights, it was outclassed in a good deal of places, including Ferraris' 1-2-3 at the Daytona 24 hours.

Yes, there are replica's built, you wil lbe spending the upper range of a GT40 replica. The best use 4L Ferrari V12's from the 412 2+2's. (Can get one for about $20,000 or so(The car)).

Pretty hot, but it's just not as sexy as the GT40.

best looking racecars of the time

917
GT40
T-70

other hot looking cars, the 250GTO is another looker, C-type, D-type, E-type, 356, 550, 911 and variants, 910, several other ferrari's, but the various 250's are all pretty sharp, miura, Aston DB#, there are just too many to list from the 50's, 60's, and early 70's...

The thing I don't like about the GT40 is its ugly sides. The windows go straight to the sidelines, needlessly increasing frontal area, and making it kinda ugle. Most replica's are of the Gulf version, with only two instead of four taillights 9Much better looking). The MKIV though, is much more curvy and nice. Do to dispalcement difference, Ferrari realy was pushing what they could come up for aero. They where the leaders in body design at he time. Several finaly caught on to Ferrari's advantage, and started to work on such things to, such as the MKIV GT40, Dayton Cobra, various non production racing E-types, etc. Porsche was on it from pretty much their early days, wich is also how they did so well from engines that where of such small displacement.

Its not a bad way, gives i a very agressive stance. A production car to pull that look off would be the Countach, but they slopped in the sidelines even more, making them flow into the rear end.

I think the GT40's were at least 7L, vs the 2L Porsche 8's, and the 4L Ferrari V12's, hence why the other two put such stress on the bodywork.

The GT40's used 289's on the mark 1's and were upgraded to the 427's (7L) and also used the 302's as well.

Even with the smaller engine, they've got 1L on the Ferrari, and 3L on the Porsche's. Although the Ferrari that beat the MKI's at Le Man's had only 3.3L.

I've got the Exoto GT40, very inspirational model. Sometime's when I'm doing 3d modeling I'll set i near my keyoard to look at. It started my '68 Sport for a computer game. Which although looks more like a P4 then GT40, the GT40 inspired it. Its realy a blend of all 3, with a more Porsche lke front, Ferrari Mid, and GT40 overly bold rear.
