It's winter here. It means it's cold.

I'm hungry as well. Know any good burger joints?

Very commendable, Bryan. I wish I could join you. I was actually going to make that a new year's resolution, and tell all of you guys so you would hold me to it. I have been participating in the political stuff less and less, but I still have my moments. I'll try harder, but no promisses.

And yes, there are those here on the liberal end of the spectrum that have influenced my opinions in a positive way. Guys like Supe, FastPat, Shaun, Tech, and others have actually put some stuff out here that I find worthwhile to consider. You may not be able to tell from my responses, but a lot of those are just yanking their chains, or seeing how well they can support their postion. All in good fun.

I do agree that much of it gets too serious, and then degenerates into nastiness. That's usually when I bail. Before that happens, though, I actually think this board has some of the most up-to-date and informed political commentary available anywhere. When a new story breaks, I do actually find myself coming here to see how some of you feel about it. Taken as a population, this board is brighter and better informed than my coworkers or the dumbed-down general media. Granted we have some real winners here on both sides, but I generally just blow them off. Or, admittedly, if it's a really slow day, I will stoop to stuffing another quarter into one just to see what happens...

Good luck Bryan! I'm rooting for you...but, ummmm, what are we gonna talk about at lunch in March?

Jeff, couldn't agree more.

I've found only one cure so far: being busy. Just pulled the E out of storage and man it used to be such a nice car. it needs a TON of work. So what am I gonna do? Organize my new interior bits, lovingly rubbing ArmorAll into every little vinyl crevice, arranging them, cleaning each thread with Liquid Wrench...

OR

start a lame thread on the bush admin approving an Arab company's takeover of operations of 6 major U.S. ports, probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen (really!) post 9/11 and enough to impeach bush on the spot.

Hmmm. Think I'll go roll around in some German velour carpet now.

No, it's not apathy, it's the understanding that you are wasting your f&#$*ng time in HERE with any political discussion.

Mul, you think you're making a difference? You aren't. Not in here, anyway. I bet you haven't changed one mind, neither have any of the countless lefties.

Yep, whether they like it or not, I am psychologically twisting them and making them realize, when they spew or further their tendency of regurgitating the same lies, that they are lies. This weakens the boldness with which they spread these lies, their arguments become weaker and they either change their perspectives or suffer from the anxiety of knowing that they are lying...It is impossible to not be persuaded by truth. You many deny it, you may persist, but you know deep down that the truth is the truth.

It makes a difference, whether it is admitted or not, people are shifted and historical accuracy is flushed out. The barage of propaganda is exposed, dissected and revealed for what it is; if it is true is stands up, if it is false it falls...As I construct my arguments I am consistently tested, my arguments and my personal beliefs, they are either hardened or weakened.

If you don't like the political threads, don't open the thread...Really isn't that hard to understand...The political threads DO NOT need isolation. They need to be open and available...Coming to the truth is hard enough, we need a venue that will allow us to participate in the political process by uncovering fact from fiction...You don't like it, you are weak of heart or argument, then don't participate...There are plenty of meaningless threads, empty and devoid of substance, within which you can waste your time...Politics IS NOT a waste of time, it is urgent and effects every aspect of your life, your income and our future as the greatest country on God's green Earth.
