1969 Siata Convertable

Anyone ever hear of a Siata convertable? A friend's neighbor has two of them for sale (both 1969s, one a runner the other for parts) and I am curious?

Siata was a smaller Italian auto company, some US distribuition in the 50s and 60s, but never much popularity. Now classed as one of the "etceterini" in the Italian car collecting world...

They were kind of like a slightly overgrown Fiat as i recall. Dull powertrains, and such were their downfall.

From a website:
Italian tuning firm, Siata, begun modifying and up-rating Fiat cars in 1926. By 1949 the company had designed its very own car, the Amica. In 1968 it launched a new small sports model based on Fiat 850 components, the Spring. The Siata Spring remained in production until 1975 by which point the company name had changed to ORSA.

The only Siata from '69 that I know of would be the Spring, which I have always found to be pretty hideous.

To me, the "real" Siatas date from the early 50s and were pretty popular with the SCCA crowd here in the States. Attached is a pic of my late father-in-law racing his Siata 208S in 1962 (I believe at VIR).

Thanks for the background. If still available, I think I will check it out. You never know!

By the way....my apologies to everyone for posting in the wrong forum. I thought this was going to post in the "off topic" area. This is what happens when you give an old fool a laptop!
