Fernando Alonso says he can podium in MotoGP
What a joke. The guy's getting a little cocky, I'd say.
http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/22131/ Sounds like something Eddie would say.... I miss Eddie.

He would be WAY back in the pack or covered in road rash by mid race.
As the Aussies would say he is "spitting the dummy".

This sounds like the usual F1 banter and press coverage. Considering Valentno Rossi is drving in Bahrain with Ferrari and is actually being considered a possible replacement for Michael when he decides to leave, I am not surprised this kind of giberish is taking place. Free advertising!

Well many pro MX racers have been fairly successful going the other way from MX into various types of auto racing with much less of a learning curve than one might expect. Jeff Ward (Indy cars), Travis Pastrana (rally cars), Bob "Hurricane" Hannah (Reno air racing in modified P51 mustangs.. oops, not auto), Jeremy McGrath (off road trucks), to name a few. Many of these guys, thru someone they knew, were allowed to try it and low and behold, many were pretty fast pretty quick! I am biased, but Motocross at a professional level requires incredible natural talent, incredible feel for what the machine is telling you and without a doubt nerves of steel.
If the guy has rode bikes all his life and is physically fit, I might just be inclined to believe that sometimes it COULD work the other way.

I've been riding all of my life and since I lack the critical gene for suucessful MotoGP racing (or any racing outside of enduro)I can say that it takes more than just being on a bike a lot of years. The 200mph GP bike is a beast and requires very different skills than a similar 4 wheeled beast. I don't say that F1 is NOT a man eater but going to two wheels is very different. In fact I'd be willing to bet that in F1 thedriver is less than half the equation for success while in MotoGP the rider is 90% of the equation.

I have tracked both my car and my bike. I found 4 wheels to be much easier to deal with. Not that I'm anwhere near these guys level, but the laws of physics still apply. Traction good...

Wasn't he sporting the mini mustache or goatee at the end of last year? I bet he'd get slapped silly if he showed up at MotoGP looking like that.

What? Cmon, Vale is the Dennis Rodman of motorsports. Pretty much anything goes in motorcycle racing. I used to actually like the guy. Kind of pictured him at Ferrari some day. He's good. Just getting kinda cocky. BTW, the story is twisting a bit:

isn't that funny, but the initial impression I got from the first story is what the second story is now trying to say. I'm no fan of Alonso, but I didn't think he was out of line. I read the first story as him simply saying that, given enough time and practise, he could do moderately well on two wheels too
don't take stuff so seriously fellas. no one is trying to take away your sandbox ![]()
