what happens if you dont "log off"?
i usually do. sometimes i just close the window out of habit. say i am viewing and paying my homeloan online and when done, i just close the window. do i leave myself open for fraud? if i go "OOPS!" and hit back, i get that page is expired message.

I just keeps you in "logged in" status on the website. If you are using a home computer, no big deal. If you are using a public computer, the person after you can check the history and log in as you.

Almost all important sites log you out automatically after a period of inactivity, so you aren't really doing any damage. There are far more and far easier ways to get you than trying to use a session that you didn't log out from.
