NRA Sues (NOLA) Mayor Ray Nagin

Fairfax, VA-The National Rifle Association (NRA ) has filed a motion for contempt against the City of New Orleans, the mayor and the acting chief of police for failure to comply with a temporary restraining order, handed down September 12, 2005, ordering an end to all illegal gun confiscations.

"With looters, rapists and other thugs running rampant in New Orleans, Ray Nagin issued an order to disarm all law-abiding citizens," declared Wayne LaPierre, NRA executive vice president. "With no law enforcement and 911 available, he left the victims vulnerable by stripping away their only means of defending themselves and their loved ones. Now Ray Nagin thinks he's above the law, and that's just wrong."

Attorneys for NRA have exhausted all efforts to cooperate with the defendants, Mayor Nagin and Chief Riley, who repeatedly ignored the court's permanent restraining order against their illegal gun confiscations.

"Ray Nagin is a colossal disappointment," said Chris W. Cox, NRA chief lobbyist. "During a federally declared emergency, he abused his power and abandoned the very people he was sworn to protect. He took away the victims' freedom and their basic means of self-defense during an ill-fated and perilous time."

The motion also includes an order that all seized firearms must be returned to their rightful owners.

How is that jackass still in power? I know there were failures all the way up, but he did nothing but run like a little girl, all the while blaming it on the state or federal government. Then his chocolate comments, can you impeach a mayor?

Glad that they did. He is a doofus and trying to milk the system for all it has then will attempt to move upwards somewhere else.

Its people like him that caused a disaster to mushroom into what it is today, a long term govt overhaul project.

To me, the NRA is as bad as those on the far left or the far right. I want to sue the NRA just because they send me mail. I called their punk asses and asked them to stop sending me mail. They still do. I then called the guy who sold me some of my guns and asked him why he gave the NRA my info. He acted like it was no big deal so I told him to get bent and that I would never shop there again (now out of business)

I hope the NRA uses up all their money on this and are forced to close the dorrs.

You got that right! I live walking distance from their HQ and I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I see the bldg. I shoot there all the time, send them money, buy their trinkets and walk through their Nat. Firearms Museum every few yrs. It's a great place. I will put the NRA in my will.

I talk to Wayne LaPierre once in a while too. He's my hero!

I have a signed photo of us together holding up the "Ted Kennedy's Car has Killed More People Than My Gun Has" bumper sticker.

One time the NRA sent me some mail asking me to join.

I wiped my a$$ with it. I was gonna send it back to them but then I thought better of it.

Was it glossy paper or their recycled paper postcards? That couldn't have been too pleasant. I'm sure they'd enjoy knowing you did this more than you enjoyed doing it.

It was like plain old printer paper. Didnt hurt too much.

I dunno it was actually fun. Like F$^& the NRA you know.

I decided not to mail it because I do not like jail. In fact I like the NRA more than I like jail.

Next time you see the guy at the NRA tell him to send slakjaw more mail because I am running low on TP and NRA mail is cheaper.

Thanks.

I let my NRA and SAF memberships lapse around 1994/95. I felt they were not agressive enough in fighting state assault weapons bans, and then they topped it by making political concessions with regard to the Title XI Federal Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (THE assault weapons ban).

It's JPFO for me. No backing down.

Sorry about that slakjaw, I guess I am partly responsible for that mail as I support the NRA as a long time member and will continue to do so.

ok

I have no problem with it if you want to support the NRA. It is nothing personal, nothing against you or anyone else here on PPOT.

I do not like the NRA and I will continue to use their mail as TP

I'm still an NRA member. I do wish they'd stop mailing out so much stuff, and spend their assets better. Developing a better image, public service and education, etc etc. Oh, and not 'compromising'

Compromise is when both parties give, and receive. However, we can't compromise with gun control laws - we only give up things, yet we receive nothing.

Me too. Hmmmm, maybe we need another thread? How many NRA members? Hey, it's the big horse to ride if you believe in the 2nd amendment.
