How Long To "Restore" An iPod?
How long should it take to Restore an iPod?
I used Disk Utility to erase my wife's 5G 60GB iPod, then iPod Updater to update the software, then launched iTunes to resync the music, photo, and video files back on the iPod. So far it has taken appx 8 hours to load 16GB back onto the iPod. As there is about 36GB total of stuff that will be going back on, this is going to be a 20 hour process. That seems way too long. Is something wrong, d'you think? I only vaguely remember how long it took when I initially sync'd the iPod, right after buying it, but I don't think it took most of a day.

Are you connected using an old USB connection or a newer USB2? connection. That would make a huge difference. Perhaps something happened with your USB connection.

Duh, I am an idiot.
I was connecting through a bus-powered USB hub. When I plugged the iPod directly into the iMac's USB port, everything sped up by a factor of at least 10X. The remaining 20-something GB was done in an hour.
