High End Walmart in Plano TX

Walmart is going to open up a test market store in Plano TX that will be considered high end - Sushi Bar, up-scale coffee bar, expensive jewelery section, a fashion section from Italy and France.

Full run at Target and Needless Mark-up?

na, Northern Tool with a Hot Dog wagon is that, this is going for the soccer mom with a disposable income. North Texas is rich with that demo!

I miss good ole Plano. What was the name of the sweet mexican restaraunt where all the hotties meet? You know out door fireplace on the patio and margarita bar inside.

Plano is not exactly a poor, backwater area. There's plenty of money there. And I buy plenty of high-end stuff at Wal Mart - Mobil 1, Sylvania Silverstars, Winchester ammo, Perrier. I don't know what makes Wal-Mart Tropicana orange juice taste different than Wegman's Tropicana.

Plano was ranked as one of the best towns to live - it is pretty nice still but it has grown considerably. The up-side, there is plenty of land for urban sprawl, the bad news is that the highways never seem to catch up.

I think I saw more Ferraris the last time I was in Plano than any other city I've ever been in, outside of L.A..

Now I'm craving Fogo De Chao!

Good. The luxury segment needs more aggressive retailing.

If ever there was a group of retailers than need to be b!tch-slapped, it's the high markup mall stores.
