computer question& eye candy

Ok I am finally getting my old butt into the 21st century and I have a question. I recently bought a laptop/notebook and it runs on XP. Being stuck on the old 2000 system I am lost on some of the fetures of the new system. If I leave my cursor on a tab it will automatically "click" on that item. This is anoying and I can't figure how to turn this feature off. Can anybody tell me how to do it? I have been through every file I can find that pertains to the
mouse.
It is cool to be able to have my computer anywhere in the house, I like this new stuff, I might like coming out of the dark ages!
Thanks
Rick

This is a pic from our NOVA funrun last weekend I added this so my post will have Porsche content
