Assault weapon ban is back

In your heart, you knew they'd be around again to harm Americans and America. Here's the other half of the Warfare/Welfare state at it again.

Assault weapon ban is back
Michael Cook

Well here we go again with the usual suspects attempting to get the assault weapons ban and the ten round magazines back into law. They have reintroduced S.645 in the Senate once more. Makes you wonder what part of NO don't they understand.

The bill was introduced by Mr. Lautenberg, Mr. Corzine, Mr. Schumer, Mrs. Boxer, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Durbin, Ms. Mikulski, Mr. Sarbanes, Mr. Reed, Mr. Akaka, Mr. Dodd, and Mrs. Clinton. This bill has been read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. Let's make sure it dies a timely death there.

They want to reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act. This act as they call it has nothing to do with what they are calling it. It is nothing more than a bunch of anti-gun Senators trying to take your rights away. They go on to say that this act may be cited as the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2005.

Gosh, another need less gun law trying to be shoved down our throats by the Democratic senators.

Its time for a two term limit. Get these idiots out of office...

I used to think assault weapons were bad, after experiencing a mass murder in my small FL community back in the 80's. Some people I know died in when a whacko lost it and decided to get back at society. Now we have this you kid in Seattle with shotguns, baseball bat and machete killing other kids at a party. It's not the weapon, it's the goofball or criminal that's to blame. Now how do we protect society from them?

This is the shove I need to finally get the pre-ban M4 I've wanted.

Jim Richards 03-28-2006 07:13 AM

RL, someone only needs to "shove" you with their pinkie-finger to get you to buy another gun. :D

Let's see, which of the Republican Senator's has introduced legislation with an equal number of co-sponsors to repeal a single gun confiscation law?

Please let me know when you find even one.

Newt Gingrich has aided legislation for the gun confiscators when he was in the house, Bob Dole did the same for the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

Want to bet they'll do little to stop this one?

gaijindabe 03-28-2006 07:18 AM

"usual suspects attempting to get the assault weapons ban and the ten round magazines back into law." This is just grandstanding for the newspapers back home, it aint going to happen.

Rick Lee 03-28-2006 07:19 AM

Well, Newt and Dole aren't in Congress anymore and we do have some serious pro-gun senators who I think would step up to the plate to kill this if it ever gained enough momentum to come to the floor. Sens. Craig, Coburn, Cornyn, Sessions and Allen (probably some others) would kill this. Dems know gun control is a losing issue for them and no Dem. who has a serious reelection coming up will support this.

I repeat, where are the repeals?

legion 03-28-2006 07:31 AM

I'm embarrassed that Durbin is from my state.

Rick Lee 03-28-2006 07:34 AM

I'm embarrassed that I'm originally from NJ. But I sure am proud to have a Sen. like George Allen in my new home state.

holy crap, one battle at a time... we're still trying to just get concealed carry here!

Our pounding on the gun confiscation lobby and their toadies in government, executive branch and legislative branch, needs to be relentless, furious, and forceful.

Every day, every week, every year; until there's none of them left standing.

legion 03-28-2006 07:41 AM

With Blagoyevich as governor (read: Dailey's Pet), it won't happen here.

And to think, we have politicians in Oregon who are trying to foist Nebraska's "unicameral" system on us. Since those touting this are all well known Oregon far lefties, I'm opposed...also, if it was such a great system, why is Nebraska the only state with it?

The change in state legislatures that is worthy of consideration is to return them to part time status if they're not; and to require them to have a 75% super majority to pass any law except repeals.

Don't worry the ACLU will defend your right to bear as soon as they realize there is more than one amendment!!!!!!!

Yup, a list of those I despise with a passion.
Corzine is in the process of going back on at least two of his campaign promises. After the scum McGreedy F****ed us over for a few years. This crap is getting real old.

Why not just ban armor piercing bullets, since there one and only objective is to pierce bullet proof armor. I've messed with two guns so far (hopefully more in the future), a 12 gauge mossberg and an ak47 (or is it 74) with armor piercing rounds purchased by a civilian at a local military base (retired military civilian). It's kind of over kill to target practice with bottles and other garbage in the desert with armor piercing rounds.
