Oh man, I sure can relate. After over a year of trying to be reasonble, and after dealing with the city bylaw enforcement officer, I finally gave up and build a 7' fence. Problem solved... then the bylaw enforcement officer told be he thought my fence is too high. I told him to let me know when he was coming by to measure it, because I wanted to call a friend of mine from the newspaper. He never came.

We had one house with a Baptist preacher across the street beat his dog every night and guy next door was a bee keeper. Dang bees were everywhere. When we moved here we stayed in a tiny apt. until we found a house. The young redneck girl next to us was an arsonist. She would light the dumpster on fire every Fri. night.

At the end of last summer, my mower threw a rod. It sat in the side yard all through the winter, right where it stopped running. 2 weeks ago, I got a letter from the homeowner nazis asking me to move it from the side yard.

So I moved it to the front yard, right up near the road. Later this week, it will get fitted with an inflatable Easter Bunny.

And the next time they want to tell me what to do, it will end up in their yard. Maybe on fire.

I really don't like people who don't have anything better to do with their life than worry about how I live. It's those kinds of people who end up with my boot up their ass.

Arrest for assault = $150 or 30 days. And it's worth it sometimes.

Here in AZ we surround ourselves with 6 foot tall masonry fences. Keeps put all kinds of pests...scorpions, Javalinas, coyotes and obnoxious neighbors. Personal visits to the most obnoxious of residents generally works, especially when we descend on them en masse. (generally no less than six of us).

I live in the boonies surrounded by farm fields so my family and I can shoot, ride dirt bikes and fly airplanes out of our backyard without having to worry about complaining neighbors. I dread the day some urbanite builds a house next door and then starts complaining. I have heard stories of folks moving out to the country, then complaining about the smell of the prexisting hog farm they built their house next to! I hope I live far enough out that I will be old and gray before it happens to me!

I LOVE rural life; raised on a farm. Unfortunately, with more and more citizens being manufactured every year, large parcels of land are becoming more expensive and harder to find. In some areas of AZ, land goes a high as half a mil per acre. Fifty years ago you could hardly give it away.

Sadly, though, those who can afford these home sites are not always prepared for the change in lifestyle. Used to having things their own way, they can make long time residents miserable with complaints, threatened lawsuits and so on.

If you want to control your view, make sure you buy everything you can see. If you don't, you'd better get used to compromise.

The lawn mower

After living here about 8 months, JD8 decides to buy a lawn mower. Unfortunately for my wife and I, JD8 is too excited about his new purchase. He's so excited that he decides he needs to cut the lawn. The only problem is that once again, the entire neighborhood is asleep. It's midnight! This is the only time I curse at my neighbor but I do not know what else to do. He explains he is "testing" the lawn mower. I don't think he understands my point. He seems to think I'm upset that he is cutting his lawn. The fact that he is making entirely too much noise never crosses his mind.

I was itching, realy realy itching to drive my 944 all night when I got it, held back. Kept me up till 3AM the first night wanting to drive.

I hear you, I am 37 miles from my day job in Toledo, In this part of the country, Toledo and it's suburbs have expanded out about 15 miles in the last 20 years. I am still pretty safe for now, but you never know when a farmer will decide enough is enough and cash in some road frontage.
