The '62 Dodge was Fugly indeed...but when it had a dual quad 413 under it's hood, it was fugly fast!

Ah yes - gotta love the big block MOPARs. While my very first car was a '67 GTO, I thereafter got into the B body big block MOPARs. I had a '66 383 automatic Sport Fury, then a '69 383 four speed Super Bee, a '68 383 four speed Road Runner, and finally a '67 440 four speed R/T. A couple of buddies went through a bunch of them as well, with Road Runners, GTX's, and R/T's. These were cheap and readily available in the late '70's through the late '80's. There was a bit of a gap, and other cars between the first two and the last two of mine, but then marriage, kids, etc. intervened and the last one went. Sigh...

I am in the process of restoring a 71 440 Magnum Charger R/T. For this year the plan is to get it operating and drivable. I was just at a show today

Awesome - my older brother bought a '72 when he got out of the Navy and drove it all through college.

It was sitting in a backyard in New Mexico for around 4-5 years. The interior was roasted to a crackly crunch, so that is getting replaced a piece at a time. I just put a small wiring harness in it. The next step is removing the windshield (it was installed with clear silicone RTV), so I can more easily replace the dash pad. While waiting for different parts to arrived, I am working on the exterior. No rust, but some of the car was down to bare metal from the sand and wind. I covered the bare metal up prior to the start of winter.
It is keeping me busy Arrival day ![]() Previous home in NM
