Figure about $1500 for the clutch, $700 for the brake service, and $600 for the 60K = around $3000.

None of these things is particularly difficult to do yourself on the Boxster, and you're talking about $900 for all the parts. I did the 30K maintenance myself, and it cost me around $130 in parts. The 60K requires a new fuel filter and poly-rib belt, which add maybe another $100. Brakes are as easy to do as old 911s - pop out the pads, pull off the rotors, etc. Clutch is a little tricky, but all you really have to do is take off the rear bumper, the muffler, and drop the transmission.

That's encouraging news -- glad to hear that "normal" guys can maintain their own Boxsters.

HardDrive, you're awesome. I had to laugh when I read your post. Tell me, are you really that domesticated?

Harddrive, how about some pics? I saw the couple you had posted over in the Boxter forum, but more is always better

I don't have any idea how you can itemize $8900. Any decent shop could do all of this work in a day, day and half tops, and even at $200 an hour, that's only $2400 for labor. With dealer markup, I don't know how they could ethically charge more than $1500 for parts. That's four grand - which is really on the high side. And they charge double that!

I wouldn't walk into that shop again.

I wonder how much the same dealer would quote for a 1965-1989 911 30k mile service plus clutch?
