				Annapolis

Is it just me, or are others also amazed at the farce being played out in Annapolis? Does anyone actually think a middle-east peace agreement brokered by Bush (that well known geo-political thinker and architect of peace in the middle east) is possible? And even if it is, does anyone believe it will be worth the paper it is written on? And even if it were, is there a salesman alive who could actually sell this in the middle east? Does the shrub seriously think that this charade will effect the way he's viewed by posterity? Can he possibly be that daft? Time for a Scotch. Maybe I got CNN and the Comedy Channel mixed up. I better go check that out.

Even a late in the game epiphany is better than none at all. What's funny is that CNN had a quote from Bush where he states "This could end all the middle east fighting that has gone on for decades". Apparently his school history book was a little short, or he woke up in history class toward the end for finals.

No worries, mate. This spectacle needs venting. Hopefully the meeting is a message in itself. Productive in the long run.

I think the number of responses on this Board accurately reflects the interest in - and optimisim about - the outcome.

Dubya successfully brokering a middle-east peace accord is about as ridiculous a notion as Osama bin Laden moderating the Presidential debates. It's a seriously delusional concept. The man is vilified in the Arab world. His imprimatur on the process is a guarantee of its failure.

It may not go anywhere - but the framework that they have all agreed to is a step forward. A start I guess..

I think W's only there to write a check to both for the photo op.... It's actually a bit of neocon brilliance on his part. He'll sign a check for the photo op, because "deficits don't matter". The spending will further depress the value of the dollar, making the US "more competitive on the world market". If the country collapses, it's because "the Democrats control Congress". All neocon beliefs, all you have to do is look at some other threads floating around here. Now, if you're like me and don't believe the Neocon stuff, then it's akin to "destroying the village in order to save it".

Our "president" is making a fool of himself in front of a world audience. This has been going on since he took office. Aren't you glad you asked this question? Twice.

Dubya's cred in the Middle East and elsewhere is non-existent. His integrity has been determined to be non-existent. He lies. He underestimates. He administers failure. He cannot pronounce three-syllable words or assemble complete sentences. He casually dismisses any and all suggestions to negotiate or use diplomacy, either with Congress or sovereign nations or anybody else. And now he's makes this statement: "This could end all the middle east fighting that has gone on for decades." If this were less pathetic, it would be funny. The guy is a clown. I see the videos of him holding these guys hands and clowning around, and I hope against hope that the rest of the world isn't seeing what I'm seeing. But.....they are.

By the way, Hardflex, some folks here are very supportive of the scorched-earth anarchism taking place in Washington DC. They call themselves "patriots," while they cheer the demolition of the Government of the United States of America. I have another word for that.

The reason this will fail? Because the status-quo conflict with Israel is too important for the governments of the Muslim world. It keeps the focus away from their own corruption and incompetence.

To the rest, the great thing about Google and LexisNexis is a proven paper trail. Rove is right now on the prowl trying to rewrite history blaming Congress "acting too fast" in giving Bush a blank check to invade Iraq. According to Rove, the WH was totally against this move. Fortunately, even the White House website tells the real story of Bush pushing Congress in his rush to war.
