HAHA - pretty funny

What's your opinion of the price of the car? It is still there and doesn't seem to have a bunch clamoring over it. I'd argue it's not the car's track abilities that keep some from buying it, but its 10 gallon gas tank and a car that sits with your head at the level of an SUV's bumper. |

I get more miles on my Elise's 10 gallon gas tank than on my VehiCross's 20+ gallon tank. The height may be a bit of an issue, but anyone shopping for a sports car has already thrown the safety card out the window. |

Quite frankly, I don't know what this "No Soul", "No Heart" "Ugly" bit is about.
Lotus has lots of soul. The brand has a long and distinguished history of making sport lightweights that are known for great handling. The Elise is just the latest of many and it carries the brand values forward in an honest way. The Toyota mill gives a great power to weight ratio and it's a TOYOTA. So you can pretty much discount any reliabilty problems. Furthermore, you can tune the crap out of it if you want. I'd say it has a very good heart indeed. Ugly? Well, that's an opinion, but it looks great from any angle to me. |
I love my Elise. It's the purest car I have ever driven. Styling is subjective, but if you love driving, there's no way you can sit behind the tiny steering wheel with anything but an ear to ear grin :)

JW nailed it, fugly.
It looks like a sketch drawn on the back of a homework assignment for 6th grade english class. Which would be perfect as the styling apeals to 6th graders. Signed, an old fogey porsche owner who does not live in kentucky. SmileWavy |

didn't a company call Sun something offer an Elise with an Acura Integra drivetrain in the US five years ago? Something else than technical feasibility must have made Lotus stay away from Honda.

just a couple more grill openings and a couple more lights! http://images.autotrader.com/images/..._A.565x385.jpg OK - looks a little like an insect in that view... |
Yea, Sun International (??), out in L.A. I think they got slapped down by the government, or something bad happened.

I keep telling you, forget about the Elise. The Exige is what you need to be looking at. The Elise is the 914 of the series. :D

Fugly? I don't thinks so!
http://home.comcast.net/~kevinbeane/Botticelli_Elise.jpg I'm not an Elise owner, just an Elise admirer. I'll probably have one someday. I've always liked 911s, too, FWIW, and think it is one of the few truly timeless designs. At first I saw certain things about the Elise styling that were not to my liking, but they were minor and the car has really grown on me. The Exige is even better. |
I'm a little worried about your picture Beanie = long time at sea?
|
Clever. It was part of a fun calendar we did: Elise in Famous Art.

I instructed in one. Very sweet track machine. Purpose built. My only knock was that it doesn't give you much warning that the rear end is ready to come around when you push it. Not the ideal car to throttle steer, at least not without a lot of practice and a very deft touch. But brutally quick in the corners without working very hard. I would buy an Exige in a heartbeat if I had a pile of money lying around. But I don't. So instead I spend money prepping my SC.

The cars gone. Went to the Mercedes dealer to check it out. I showed up around 12:30pm and ask to see a salesman. Receptionist pages someone. No one for 10 minutes. Pages them again, no one for another 5 minutes. Walked out. Found out a few days later by calling that it was gone. Dealers suck.
