picked up a bmw 2002 as a daily driver!

m10 95hp (err.... has a big bore kit.....doesn't feel like it)

dirt slow!

fresh brakes

fresh bearings!

lacking in the cosmetics department but NO RUST!!!! and mechanically sound!

comes with extra dead motor and many parts! plus i have the factory BMW 1600 and 2002 manuals because my boss used to work for alpina!

yea for me!

i want to, cut one coil out of the springs(boss used to do this at alpina..)
get rid of the bus steering wheel and make this thing the go kart that its begging to be!

its a 72. i don't think its the correct bumper... also it has one euro and one us tail light... oh well!

You might want to remove those links; they do not display pictures and it contains a profane message...

As for the car, they are great utility cars, I've owned a couple. If you got it for not much $$, you did good.

If it's really rust free you got a bargain. More pics!

$1,700 can't go too wrong. Especially if it runs. One of my neighbors has one of the round tail light versions, its been sitting in his driveway for years.

You should post on the forum at www.bmw2002faq.com
That's where all the 02 guys hang out. Great cars and great community of owners. I miss my 1976 BMW 2002, but those cars rust so much!
Your best bet with the doorpanels is to buy some masonite and cut out the pattern and reattach the vinyl. You can also purchase them for not to much money from a few select places. I think BMW Mobile Tradition remanufactures them but they are a few hundred dollars each.

Out by North Bend, there is a guy with like 20 2002s on his property. I think he is on SE Mt. Si Rd. Its the road that you take out of North Bend if you are going to the parking lot to climb Mt Si.

No idea what the guy is all about, but I remember an ocean of 2002......

Cool car man.

Wow! Cantdrv55, that 02 is absolutely badass! And expensive, no doubt...

A friend of mine had a '72 02 Tii. I had a 2.0 914 at the time and didn't think much of it until I actually drove it. One day we swapped cars and went for a drive around Santa Cruz. It was beyond anything I had expected...

The two were actually quite evenly matched in spirited driving. I believe the Tii had the torque advantage, but the 914 was slightly more confident in the twisties (I was running 205's). Brakes would go (by far) to the Tii with the massive 4-piston Bavaria calipers. 914 not up to the task without upgrades...
