We are looking for more working Capital for my wife's Business and I'm not using my 914/6 very often. It's not the most practical car here in Houston with the Heat and Humidity. I typically get about 2 months of use out of it a year.

What do you think is the best way to sell the car?

Ebay?
Classified add here?
One of the Car Traders?
Panarama?

This car is a Factory Original 914/6. I had the interior and exterior re-done 2 years ago. The Interior looks close to original, but has been upgraded to leather and a movable passenger seat. Fresh rebuild on the engine (Original Matching Engine Serial number), but rebuilt to 2.7RS spec (About 240 hp), rebuilt original transmission with LSD but converted to sideshift, low back pressure headers and exhaust (but I still have factory heat exchangers and the rest of the heat setup). Late style doors (Better impact protection and window regulators), 16 inch Fuchs with rolled Fenders to fit 215's.

So this isn't an ordinary 914/6, let alone an ordinary 914!

Pano seems to have the highest prices. For a car such as yours it would seem to be the natural place. In my limited experience it seems as though there is a very high standard in their classifieds. I think most people who sell their cars there have vehicles maintained to the standard of yours. Also the upgrades to your car will most likely be understood by most readers there and not detract from its value.

Boy, Wish this was a year from now, would love to have the car! Owned several -14's and aways had fun with them but as well always wanted a -6 as well.

That is a very sweet 6. List it here, its free, for starters. Ebay w/ an appropriate reserve will get max exposure. I've never had a problem there, but lots of folks report that high bidders often believe a winning bid is just the start to negotiations. I float it there once anyway, now is the time.

I don't think the guys on the 914club board would be willing to part w/ what that car is worth.

I don't think it would sell quickly for full value, its "too" nice, but I wouldn't let it go cheaply unless its a distress sale situation.

I sold mine by listing on ebay. The sale, however, was not made through Ebay as the auction ended without meeting the reserve. What Ebay does is provide great advertisement. I ended up with three serious buyers after the auction ended. The buyer who ended up being a Pelican Head.

I listed the car twice on Ebay. Total cost for hte two auctions was about $120. Include a lot of pics and provide a very detailed review.

I agree, eBay for the exposure. It is impossible to match their audience for any price, let alone $80.00. (For one go-round). Also do the shotgun aproach, put it here and on Craigslist, both have good audiences and are free. ROI is minimum 100%.

It looks like a sweet car and it's the right time of year, not sure what the toy market is like right now w/ the economy but should be buyers out there. Good luck.

Not a firesale, just prioritizing. Once the business is really going, the wife wants to buy a 996! You can't argue with that!

Price? My Realistic Bottom end is $25,000. The Engine rebuild was done right. Case Savers, Piston Squirters, 2.4/2.7 crank & rods, brand new Mahle Nicasil RS pistons & cylinders, S cams, head and porting work and carbs setup for this engine. This thing is scary fast. It pulls hard from under 2500 rpm! Stock 6 gearing. Brand new Bearings, Synchro's, Dog Teeth and Sliders. All of them!

Does it have a front mounted oil cooler of any kind?

I haven't found a need for a front mounted oil cooler. The AL Cylinders seem to increase the cooling to the point where this was not necessary. The 914/6 does have an oil temp sensor and guage.
