Motorola bluetooth earpiece

I just dropped this thing into a glass of milk. It won't power on now.

Is there anything I can do?

Would've been nice to buy things like new curtains, a couple area rugs, crap like that instead of a new earpiece, damnit.

Take out the battery. Shake out what milk you can. Let it dry for a week, shake on occasion to see if more milk comes out. Then pop in the battery and try it out.

I know its tramatic, but you will just have to hold the phone to you head in the mean time. :p

I can't figure out how to get out the battery. Plus, I don't think you can get the battery out.

I just found the manual online.....

And it is traumatic, right now anyway. I'm moving LOL

Skim?

Mark Wilson 04-20-2006 06:06 PM

Cuz you could drink whole.....

replace it with a jabra bt150. You can find 'em for like $45 online.

The most useful thing I've ever done with my Moto BT was thow it against the wall when I got pissed. Can't hear anything with that thing.

Still works, kind of. You can have it.

Replace it.

That's probably what's going to have to happen.

If you want to TRY to save it, remove the battery, if you can even get to it... then rinse it out with water, and give it 24-48 hours to dry before putting the battery back in.

If that doesn't work, re-read the first line of this post ;)

Not going to be borrowing your cell phone anytime soon... :)

Rinse with garden hose. For faster, more effective cleaning, use a fire hose.

I hate those things. Way too "borg" looking.

Next time I have someone talking to me not actively on a call, I swear I'm going to smack it off their head. YOu're not all Secret Service agents poeple. Anyon that gets called so much that they need to wear it all the time should never leave their desk.

I saw a woman with one in church last week.

IMO, technology sucks. :p

sez a guy who designed a Bluetooth PHY six years ago.

Who cares how they look? I'm not entering a fashion show. LOL

I get better reception because my phone doesn't work well in Chicago. It can remain stationary. Plus, I hate talking on the phone anyway, and it makes that bearable.....

Does not belong in church.

kstylianos 04-21-2006 06:23 PM

Rinse it in Distilled water and let it dry out. To open up the headset, pull off the ear loop, then pry up the little plastic gromet that it hid. Remove the phillips screw and pry the headset apart.

Then go buy a new one. I have found that my Treo headet, while it doesn't look as cool, has a much louder ear piece.

layzee 04-22-2006 06:51 AM

Buy another on ebay - I really doubt it'll ever work again. These things are very cheap now.

84porsche 04-22-2006 09:11 AM

If you can't get it working, try Amazon's marketplace sellers -

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/B0009VZB6I/all/ref=dp_olp_2/002-4957134-5080868?%5Fencoding=UTF8

This headset is usually around $80 retail and $99 if you go into a cell provider store. The prices are great and the products are identical.

I'll put my money on it's delicate electronics beind shorted out. I just bought a H500 and it was under $50.
Definitely beats a wired earpiece in the car. I do hate the Bluetooth standard though.

Porsche-O-Phile 04-22-2006 11:23 AM

Wouldn't help in my church since you wouldn't be able to hear over the noise anyway. My "church" is the local sports bar during football season. Gets pretty rowdy.
