Premium gas @ $3.50 in L.A. area

As of yesterday, I couldn't find 91 octane at less than $3.18 at the off-brand stations, and the median appears to have reached $3.50 in the Valley. On the West side of L.A. I have heard premium is over $4 in some places.

What are you seeing in your area?

Anyone want to guess what mid-Summer prices are going to be? Traditionally, they are +.20-30 over Spring prices.

"eXXcellent!"

The only thing I have been laughing about in the gas station lately is the look on people's faces when I pull in and put 3.7 gallons of premium ($3.39) in the Gold Wing. And then reset the trip meter from 171 miles.

Or, when I put 8.3 gallons of regular ($3.03) in the Prius and reset the trip meter from 433 miles.

I saw a picture of a pump in Beverly Hills with 91 premium (full serv) at $4.049

I am willing to bet, then, that the station at the corner of Corral Canyon and PCH in Malibu is at $4.59 for full serve premium. They always seem to have the highest priced gas in the area.

My guess is that gas will peak early next week and slowly drop about 30 to 40 cents in May and stablilize until the beginning of August and will climb to $3 a gallon again and stay there until beginning of October.

Thom, you wanna talk about CEOs and severance packages? Check out Eisner and Disney.
Or, check out:

Don't pretend that th CEO of exxonmobil is the only one that gets that kind of cash or that the big bad oil companies are doing something different than corporate America, we know better even if you don't.

I hate liberals.

1. No domestic drilling.
2. Environmentalist regulations (including 91 piss water).
3. Taxation and oil company regulations, etc.

You cannot honestly assess gas prices until you take these burdensome liberal components into account.

I will be surprised of the 55 mph national speed limit is not re-instated soon to reduce the consumption rates.

If every individual in this country reduced his or her gas consuption by 5%, we would see $2 a gallon again. that is all it would take. If the supply (refinining capacity) stayed the same and the demand fell 5% it would make a huge difference.
But it won't happen. Some will cut back, maybe even many will, but the total demand will not fall that much.

I read somewhere that if everybody was driving on properly inflated tires, there'd be a 2% gain in gas economy.

But Americans are living in fear -- of nearly everything -- and fearful people seem to want big, heavy "secure feeling" land yachts to cruise around in like H2s and Suburbans. And they are paying for that preference.

They call it diplomacy. Rather intelligent when you are combating the stream of bullsh@t about our intentions coming from the Democrats, don't you think widebutty?

Interesting how Democrats stab the arabs in the back, and try to shove abortion down their throat, and then ask the question, "why do they hate us?"

So...yeah...this "2%" thing is interesting...

We traded in our Nissan Xterra last year on a Toyota Prius. My cargo carrying hasn't really changed much either believe it or not. To carry my model airplanes in the Xterra I had to fold the rear seats down (and take the bottoms out and leave them in my garage). In the Prius I just fold the rear seats down (no seat removal needed) and load up my planes. These aren't little planes either - we're talking from 55" wing spans for the small ones to one with an 81" wingspan. I usually carry 3 planes out to the field with me. As far as taking car of my home depot runs and such - I haven't had to buy anything yet that the Prius couldn't carry. The cargo room in an Xterra is generally lacking however so this isn't really a testament to the Prius in that fashion. I do feel like it's easier to get the boy in and out of the carseat in the Prius because I don't also have to climb up onto an SUV to do it.

I digress; The point is that the Xterra has an 18 gallon tank or so and I would get if I was lucky 250 miles to the tank for an MPG of 13.8 mpg. We'll be generous and say 15.

The Prius usually takes about 9.8 gallons for a fillup, lets go ahead an say 10. I usually get about 450 miles for that tank.

That's a 300% difference in simple miles per gallon.

I'm doing my part. Flame on compadres.

Wow, my boss took a huge pay cut and he's still in the top 3.

Saw Sunoco 91 yesterday for $2.84.
Regular was $1.74.....less the 5% from my Discover Gas card

LOL theme park hot dogs?
I saw staples center hot dogs at a clipper's game a few weeks selling for $7.50, just exactly how much does it cost to make a hot dog, about 30 cents?

Gas costs at least $1.85 a gallon to produce at today's crude feedstock prices and they are selling it at around $2.10 a gallon on the wholesale spot market.

I guess it's alright to mark up a stupid hot dog 2500%, but if they mark up wholesale gasoline 14% they are crooks?

Obviously you have trouble seperating reality from fantasy so can I borrow $100?

Aren't you worried about exceeding the vehicle's gross weight limits carrying all that "smug" around?

Here in Lansing, MI TODAY was 2.89. Yesterday it was 3.05. This is all for 87 oct. It's funny that everyone here I talk to complains about the gas prices, but yet everytime I go out there seems to be more traffic?!?!?!?!?

That's not smug. It's reality.

Was a funny article about Prius envy in the national papers last week. Guess you didn't see it.

I filled up my VW last night at $3.29 a gallon for 91 octane. I haven't been driving the P-car as much because of the increases in prices lately. It's funny to think that milk is cheaper than gas now.
