For the 240z fans....gratuitous photos

I know there are some Z fans on here who would appreciate some eye candy.
I just received some photos on a stunning 72 240z. Powered by a heavily massaged 3.0 with 6 TWM throttle bodies. Rims are 17" Chevlons from Japan.

Enjoy,

That is a sweet looking 240! Please refrain from posting anymore of these pics, because I am feeling an uncontrollable urge coming on!
(I think I know where my old 1972 is still sitting and rotting)

thanks, it's been a while since I've seen some pics of that creation. Simply amazing.

edit: is it just me or would you guys also go w/ different mirrors on the car? Maybe they're there b/c they are electric, but they just don't seem to go with the period "look" of the car. It really is the only thing that ever bothered me about it.

I've had it myself for around 12 years now. The E28 535 is a really great car, I hope you find a good one!
[QUOTE]

Brian,
Your E28 is CLEAN! You're right, there's not many of those around either. So far, we've passed on about 5 of them. I did manage to find an immaculate one in Morgan Hill, but I got late to the deal.
The funny things is, the deal went through and the car was up for sale again. As I was getting the logistics in order (money/shipping etc) the car sold. Nothing like missing our on the same car twice!

Dave,
You've seen this car?? When I first came across it, I was certain it was Tod Kaneko's car, but it turns out it's an entirely different car. Although I imagine somebody inspired someone.
I literally had to compare photos of the two cars for a couple minutes to distiguish it.
Same rims, same strut tower, same mirrors, almost the same interior etc.
I don't even want to know what Kaneko would sell his car for.

And I'm in 100% agreement over the mirrors. Mirros from a first generation 300z just don't cut it. All it needs is a drivers side period correct piece.

Glad you guys enjoyed the pics!

-Paul

I'm beginning to think that it *may* be the same car. I think Kaneko's had a turbo motor, right? The entire engine, plus everything else under the hood looks like it went through the same "kaneko treatment". It's uncanny to have two different motors appear to be built by the same person.

I just got a message from the owner about the car. He said when he saw Kaneko's car for the first time 8 years ago, he couldn't convince Tod to sell it, so he was inspired to build his own.
He did a pretty good job I think.

Nice Fairlady.

Anyone know how "sucessful" the 280Z refurb program was a few years back? I though that was an excellent idea. For $18k you'd have a Factory (re)New car.

If I could have a 240 like that, next to a 911 in the garage, then I would be a happy man.

I saw an article in a Tuner mag about Kaneko's cars. He also has a matching Datsun 510 w/ a 300hp rotary with full race suspension. The craftsmans ship was amazing.

I loved my 280Z, but it was too flexible. I'd swear that on some steep driveways taken at an angle the Z would have all 4 wheels on the ground while the 930 would left one wheel since the body is that much stiffer.
