and people ask me why i hate this country

just like the food and the beer
the way they celebrate the Queens B-day is quite lacking in style and quality :

http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=video&file=Koninginne_Fun_2006.wmv

remember folks, this is in public, on a market square, in A'dam last weekend, in broad daylight

now i'm not prudish, but i still feel that strippers belong in a stripjoint, especially the fat ugly ones

Here, we have so-called gay rights parades...yep, some things shouldn't be paraded in public.

this is not a gay parade
it's the public holiday to celebrate the monarchy for crying out loud...

i don't mind the gay parade, cause it's well announced, and i just go elsewhere that day.. it's just one day , i let them have their fun, fine

but the queen's B'day, ugly strippers in public? that's just poor taste, adn it's typical for Holland... you wouldn't see that on Picaldilly square in London if it's Queen E's B-day... no way

She wasn't that bad, well I would anyway! I admit it isn't quite what you expect for that kind of event, I'm reliably informed that HMQEII would prefer some hunky male strippers!

Celebrating the Queen's birthday is an odd holiday anyway.

Maybe....is your Queen still living?

The Presidents we celebrate have died.

Not an attack, but any national holiday based on someone's birthday/wedding/etc while they are still alive seems a bit contrived to me.

I think it's far better to celebrate someone while they're alive than to wait until they're dead, then name a ship after them.

Les

PS: If there is a USS Bill Clinton,, will its main armament be Blowpipe missiles?

it's not on the current queens b-day , it's on the day the old one had hers, btw , it's not my queen , i'm belgian, and we have a king and frankly i'm not royalist , he's allright for traditional and ceremonial purposes , but whatever...

look , i don't celebrate it , but it's just a typical example of Dutchness

there is no quality, customer service is always horrible, restaurants are abismal service wise, and cuisine wise, the beer is *****e and the housing is tiny and over priced, partying in R'dam , well, i used to party a lot, now they have to drag me out... the dutch idea of a good party , is a place called "the ski hut" in which they recreated an apres ski bar ... while playing dutch singalongs... it's not right

the only reason i'm staying here, is cause of the job, it's a great job , and i don't have to strain myself to perform well, no commute, and great collegues... but boy do i resent the location...
