hey all you guys that have been banging on shawn can start a column on the good side of the ledger. i know his recent episode soured some, but he stepped up and comped me a chin spoiler because he left our negotiations in the middle for a month or so.

i asked him in the middle of the shat storm if he still wanted to sell it, and he insisted on comping it to me.

I have not mentioned this in public before because publicizing acts of kindness is somewhat unseemly. But I have to agree with K911SC that this may be a unique situation. So here goes...

Shaun has been parting out his precious 84Targa for the last few months. And last Fall I received a mysterious box in the mail containing the aero mirrors from his car as a gift. Why? Well, just because I once said I liked them but could not afford a set. He could have made a mint off those mirrors but instead they are destined for my 964.

I feel a little weird telling that story. When he sent the mirrors, he barely even mentioned it to ME let alone the rest of the world. They just showed up in a box. But after the recent beating he has taken, it seems appropriate to mention it.

That said, stopping payment on Joe's check does seem transcendently boneheaded. The good news is that I got a chance to make fun of him for it last night and he didn't punch me. So maybe in a few months I'l be able to go back my regular practice of abusing him viciously without mercy.

What are you talking about? Shaun stopped payment on a check? Why?
