Does she have a good pr consultant or what?

My dad was in Viet Nam. I think she should should hide herself from decent people.

The following is taken in its entirety from a newswire emailing.
This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the
"100 Women of the Century" BY BARBRA WALTERS

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam.

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot.
The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.

In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF
Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the
"Hanoi Hilton."

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward
onto the camp Commandant's feet, which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from
double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the "Hanoi Hilton",,, the first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action".

His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit.

They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand.

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane
treatment from your benevolent captors?"

Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped
rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper.

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development adviser in Vietnam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year in a "black box" in Hanoi.

My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals."

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her.

I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as "humane and lenient."

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify
someone who should be honored as part
of "100 Years of Great Women."
Lest we forget..." 100 Years of Great Women" should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral
reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in
blatant treason, is one of them.
Please take the time to forward to as many
people as you possibly can.
It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that we will never forget.

Her true public impression is borne out better by her response to why she wouldn't demonstrate against the Iraq war - "too much baggage"

This is a still of Jane wearing a NVA helmet sitting in an anti-aircraft battery. The films of this are pretty weird. She giggles as she peers through the gun sights presumably looking for American planes.

I've heard the note-passing story is an urban legend, but she's still not well thought of by the POWs of Hanoi.

Assume that you guys have heard of the story of her wanting to eat dinner with Ted Turner up in Montana a while back? If not, here is the story...

The first is an email sent to me by an American Legion friend, and the second part is from my experiences there.

One fine Montana restaurant

This is a great story, I wish I was closer to Montana! The radio station America FM was doing one of their "Is anyone listening" bits this morning. This first one was, "Ever have a celebrity pull up and say 'Do you know who I am?' routine."

A woman called in and said that a few years back, while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings, MT., they had an occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does not take reservations. The wait was about 45 minutes. Lots of other rancher types and their spouses were already waiting.

In comes Ted Turner and Jane Fonda. They want a table. The hostess says they'll have to wait about 45 minutes.

Jane Fonda asks the hostess if she knows who she is.

"Yes, but you'll still have to wait 45 minutes"

Then Jane says, "Is the manager in?"

The manager comes out, "May I help you?"

" Do you know who I am?" ask both Jane and Ted. "Yes, but these folks have all been waiting already and I can't put you in ahead of them"

Then Ted asks to speak to the owner. The owner comes out. Jane again asks, "Do you know who I am?"

The owner says, "Yes, I do. Do you know who I am?

I am the owner of this restaurant and a Vietnam Veteran. Not only will you not get a table ahead of all of my friends and neighbors here, but you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any other night. Good bye."

Only in America, what a great country!

To all who received this e-mail.

This is a true story and the name of the steak house is :

Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse
204 W Main
MANHATTAN, MT 59741
(406) 284-6929

If you ever get there, give this fella a sharp salute, buy a steak and tip the waitress!

Keep passing this on. We should never forget this unprosecuted traitor!
And let's not forget what "our gal" Hillary said to the troops in Iraq, "This war has no support from the American public"!!!!

________________________

As Paul Harvey would say, I need to tell everyone the "rest of the story"...

I was in the Oasis a few weeks after this happened. I lived in Montana for a while and a friend of mine had told me what had happened, and that this was the best steak resturant in the state, so we stopped by.

Sat at the bar with a couple of friends and started talking to the bartender. Mentioned Hanoi Jane and her visit and she laughed and said that everyone wanted to know about it.

Here is what she said

"It was a busy weekend night, and all the tables were full and there were a few people waiting to sit down to enjoy a meal. A nice SUV drives up and Ted Turner gets out and comes inside. He asks about getting a table for two and is told that its a 45 minute wait.

He then says "do you know who I am? I am Ted Turner and normally do not wait anywhere." The young lady at the cash register asked him to please wait while she got the owner. Scott came out and shook hands with Mr. Turner. Ted asked if there was anything that could be done and Scott told him "Mr. Turner, you are an American hero in many ways and I can find a table or make room for you in a few minutes" and at that Ted told him he would park the car and return with another person.

Scott then asked if it was his wife and Turner replied yes. Scott then told Turner "I will make room for you but that's it. Hanoi Jane is not welcome in my place at anytime and she will never be served in this resturant as long as I own it."

Turner turned on his heels and left in a huff. "

This was what we were told by the barkeep and we had no reason not to believe it.

Fast forward a few months. A very good friend of mine flies a trip to Montana and is sitting in the FBO (airport office) waiting for a few hours. He asks the people working there what there is to do in this area and they said that he could go to "Sir Scotts Oasis" for one of the best steaks around.

Bill says that he does not have enough time for that but then asks if this is the place where Hanoi Jane was refused service. A couple of the people say that it was and Bill says that he heard about it from a friend but considering that we are both pilots figured that about half of it was BS. One of the ladies working behind the counter asked what he had been told and he recounted the story.

After doing so the woman asked Bill if he wanted to know what really happened and he said yes. She then proceeded to tell my friend that the story that he had been told was totally accurate but that I had left out somethings that most people did not know. He asked her how she knew and she replied "I was there having dinner with my husband and his organization" that night.

The "rest of the story" is that it was a few weeks before Christmas and the resturant was totally full due to their being a Christmas party being held there. The party was for the local chapter of the VFW, the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization! The mere mention of Hanoi Jane gets them very unhappy and for her to show up and demand special treatment during their Christmas dinner just was not going to happen. There were loads of VietNam Vets there that night and had she gotten in the door, the chances of her making it out alive were not good!

That, ladies and gents, is the rest of the story. Everytime I get near Manhattan Montana, there is no question where I go to eat. Its well worth it.

Claim: Jane Fonda and Ted Turner were refused service in a restaurant run by a Vietnam War veteran.
Status: False.
Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2003]

Quote: "Specifically, the folks at Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse in Manhattan, Montana, where most versions of this e-mail claim the incident occurred, tell us that although Jane Fonda has indeed been in their restaurant, she simply said she had to leave when she was told how long the wait was — there were no indignant "Do you know who I am?" histrionics on Ms. Fonda's part, nor was the owner summoned to deliver a defiant "You're never eating in my restaurant!" put-down."

Snopes aint the most accurate clearing house fer truth. The folks at the restaurant may simply be frightened of Turner and Fonda's ability to manufacture good or bad press...On the other hand, snopes may be right.

Take it from me - the rib eye is good. It was the local prom night when I was there, all the farm kids all dressed up. Cute.
