I think one aspect of competence is being secure in who you are or what you believe. Not cocky, but not indeterminate either. I don't think Bush should go out and say "My God tells me to..." But he could say "I stand for X and Y..." If he's to the left of most of his party on issues or doesn't have the cojones to speak his mind instead of letting people like Pat decide where he so clearly stands, he shouldn't be in office, much less with an (R) next to his name.

Yeah, he has flip-flopped. But he doesn't vote for things before he votes against them. Imagine the mess we'd have if Kerry signed a bill, then decided he didn't like how it would influence the polls?
Also, unlike Hillary, at least Bush has said something. Maybe that's because she has something to hide? :confused:
