anybody know orchids??
I was given a Phalaenopsis last may. It bloomed nicely for several months- getting new buds as the older flowers fell off. When the flowering was done, I cut the plant back. It has come back well0 with large nice leaves, some new.
It is not forming new buds. The only buds that I know about have beer in them--so. Any tricks on getting this plant to bloom again? Light, food, etc? Thanks. This group has experts on everything Gary |

did you cut it at a joint in that stem (above it)? and you only use fertilizer during non flowering times. straight water when in bloom. every 10 days or so. i talk a big talk, but i only have a single success. but it is kicking bootay and is about to bloom again up and gay up my bachelor pad. i need to get more. shows the women i can commit to keeping something alive. my nurturing side.

Different types of Orchids behave differently. I believe, for some, there are special fertilizer that makes them want to bloom. I believe other's want to feel a temp change from warm to cool and back. You're best off looking up the type you have at google.com

When its bloomed - move it to a north facing window ledge - keep it warm but not hot. Then when new growth has occured move it to a light south facing room - but not in direct sun. I've had 25 new blooms this way.
