Double no, but cool if it were a new Mercury or something.

Well, who woulda thunk Porsche would build a SUV that would be such a big seller...

At any rate, in a recent interview with a Ferrari exec., the person (whose name escapes me), says Porsche is the company to watch now - and I'm sure he's including the Cayenne in that statement. So a Ferrari SUV (which the photo looks like more than a sedan), heck, I can see it...

The thing about any automobile maker is they always want more income, and the current automotive market involves more than just supercars. 10 yrs. ago, no one would have thought Porsche would build an SUV, and they have, and we're all pretty much used to it, I think. Ferrari would be foolish not to consider an endeavor like Porsche's if they want more market share. Sure, it's ugly and goes against concept of what a Ferrari is, but nearly all of Porsche's offerings go against what we think Porsche is (water), and at least half of the lineup is ugly. But what to they care what what we, as old air-cooled fans, care? One, we're not necessarily dumping tons of stock in the company; and two, we're not yet buying at retail, 997s, Boxters, Caymans or what-not. Ferrari realizes this too. If they rely on traditional two-seater performance cars, as a living company they may as well shoot themselves in the head. Why do you think Lotus is building a a larger version of the Elise?

Ferrari is not interested in larger market share. They want to limit the amount of cars they build total per year. The recognize that selling a few cars at very high profit, is something they can do best.
Porsche on the other hand, is different. 10 years ago, especialy as that of of been even closer to the Porsche Rally cars, I think they could of done a SUV then to and I'd of accepted it, although with the technoledgy of today, I'd prefer what they came up with now. The Turbo version is fairly cool. If Ferrari decided to do a minivan sized vehichle, so long as it had a good sounding Ferrari engine at the heart, it would still catch my ear. Very often I see in books people refer ot the engine as being the Soul of the Ferrari, it doesn't realy matter what body work its wrapped in, just so long as the engine sounds and runs good.

I sold a car that looked like that recently - Infiniti FX45. Fast, handled well for its size and weight, got 15 mpg in combined driving. Not too useful but great for posing.
