It's nice to have someone I can count on. Thanks, Daddy.

I would say the initial attacks on Afganistan for instance were an attempt to nip in the bud any legitimate terrorist states. To show the world that it won't be allowed. The other attacks on mountain holdouts, meeting places, etc... are simple to break their organizational abilities and spirit. In effect making it more difficult to organize a large scale attack. I really cannot imagine somone feeling that we shouldn't do these things, knowing what we know now about how they work.

Agreed. Unfortunately the battle in Afghanistan is not the preferred one for Al Queda. Instead of taking the battle to them there, we've decided to make a spectacle and a target of ourselves in Iraq. Daddy Bush knew how to use the military. His kid is in idiot.

Both ofcourse. What are you getting at?

What happens when they conflict. Or are we to simply assume that whatever is good for business is good for citizens? Does anybody really believe that? Nevermind. Sadly, I know the answer to this.

Putting aside the snide opening of which I don't agree with. The answer is no, it's consistant with the Representaive Republic in which we live. Our system is setup to allow leaders to lead, even in the face of public weakness or ignorance. Ala, the Revolutionary War. The ability of this to run amock has many checks and balances in our system, but our leaders are expected to lead not follow.

So, the will of the people is not paramount. Hmmmmm...... I wonder what form of government this thinking leads to.

I suggest that those people are fools and/or they give others too much credit. I also suggest that they lack a solid understanding of the commodities market(in regards to oil). In general I view these people as conspiracy theory nutballs.
If bilking the public were their goal, there are much easier/bloodless ways.

Solid understanding of commodities markets. Let's see. If instability were created in the Middle East, causing oil prices to double or triple or more.....then the oil industry then becomes (financially) twice the size it was before....plus.....these greater financial volumes will persist for many years or decades after more responsible people have been placed in Washington DC. Smaller, bloodless tactics would not yield profit increases this large, and not nearly this long lasting. Am I ignorant of commodities markets? Or is it ignorant to assume that commodities markets simply cannot be manipulated?

Actually, I agree with Moses. I think Dubya is a deluded idiot. But I also do not think these observations (oil prices, oil profits, Iraq war, Haliburton, etc) are coincidences. There was one person on the Republican Presidential ticket with a brain.
