The Recurring Questions

I miss you guys. And as you know, I simply do not tire of hearing Dubya-supporters answer certain questions. I could use a good chuckle, so please attempt to enlighten me:

1) Are we hoping to exterminate the terrorists, or just kill a portion of them while the rest become too scared to attack us?

2) Does "freedom" apply to American citizens in terms of personal freedoms and liberties......or is "freedom" an economic term used to describe the absence of regulations that apply to business units (non-citizens).

3) Is Dubya's prideful disdain for the views and hopes and preferences of American citizens (polls) consistent with "democracy?" How is this consistent?

4) Some would suggest there is a connection between the invasion of Iraq, the ownership of oil interests by Dubya and his family, the rising price of oil, the record oil company profits, and the many windfall no-bid contracts awarded to Haliburton. Others imagine these interrelationships to be purely coincidental. Discuss.

There are more, but these are some of my favorites.

1) Yes, we are hoping to lure them all into Iraq, where they can be killed.

2) Neither. Freedom is a marketing term.

3) Because polls are biased and run by freedom-haters and terrorists.

4) Do you really think he's that smart?

Happy to help!

thanks, Legion. Sorry for the hammering on the other thread. Well, not really sorry, but nothing personal. I'd guess we could be just fine friends. Particularly with your obvious good judgement regarding Bombay Sapphire, lime and Schweppes Tonic.

Yeah, I'm kinda shy.

I'm sure I would get along with most of the people on the forum in person, regardless of their views.

You have to admit by starting this thread you are intentionally stirring the pot.

I thought I'd try it. For a change.

I would say the initial attacks on Afganistan for instance were an attempt to nip in the bud any legitimate terrorist states. To show the world that it won't be allowed. The other attacks on mountain holdouts, meeting places, etc... are simple to break their organizational abilities and spirit. In effect making it more difficult to organize a large scale attack. I really cannot imagine somone feeling that we shouldn't do these things, knowing what we know now about how they work.

2) Does "freedom" apply to American citizens in terms of personal freedoms and liberties......or is "freedom" an economic term used to describe the absence of regulations that apply to business units (non-citizens).

Both ofcourse. What are you getting at?

3) Is Dubya's prideful disdain for the views and hopes and preferences of American citizens (polls) consistent with "democracy?" How is this consistent?

Putting aside the snide opening of which I don't agree with. The answer is no, it's consistant with the Representaive Republic in which we live. Our system is setup to allow leaders to lead, even in the face of public weakness or ignorance. Ala, the Revolutionary War. The ability of this to run amock has many checks and balances in our system, but our leaders are expected to lead not follow.

Discuss.

I suggest that those people are fools and/or they give others too much credit. I also suggest that they lack a solid understanding of the commodities market(in regards to oil). In general I view these people as conspiracy theory nutballs.
If bilking the public were their goal, there are much easier/bloodless ways.

There are more, but these are some of my favorites.

given the chance, and if she wasn't gay... There is just something about that wide caboose and all that power that makes an egomaniac want to bend it over a nail keg...

Right now I'm really hacked off, my new company laptop seems to have lost all of my pictures from years of pic taking and I can't get to my company file server to see if they're still there in the backup tape files.

In answer to the questions

1. No

2. No, it applies to me and AT&T

3. He was elected, live with it and vote next time for someone else.

4. If you think W controls the world market clearing price of crude oil, you give him too much credit. Although I will grant you that Iraq, Iran, etc. have driven up the price. I think the Chinese demand is a greater factor on crude prices.

Re: The Recurring Questions

1) Anyone who believes that is delusional.

2) Both

3) Baffles me that there has been no call for impeachment.

4) I don't think any of our presidents madness is motivated by greed, I really don't. It's much more frightening than that... he's a true believer. He believes it's his destiny to bring democracy to the world of Islam.
