Bought an '89 Syncro Tristar

Now I've done it. I paid for this today, and expect to get it here and legal in CA in a few months. Anyone wanna buy a Dodge 4X4?

I found it on:

http://www.tristar-connection.de/ in Germany.

He sells a few of these in the US, and there is a Registered Importer in Sacramento who specializes in Dokas:

http://www.autostadtwest.com/

What's required is just the smog equipment and a lot of paper work. Otherwise, it's just your standard Vanagon. It costs $4000 to get shipped, smogged, legal with the EPA, and registered in CA. In the end, it will set me back about $15K, which isn't bad. It will be worth a lot more once it's registered here. It will also hold its value, unlike my '95 Dodge.

At 112 HP and lighter weight than my 80 HP Westy, It should actually feel peppy in comparison.

That is cool. They made a 4x4, though it was the 'vanagon' so I'm not sure if the running gear would fit. It was quite the machine- some friends had one- only drawback was poor approach/departure angles. Keep us updated!

Cheers,

Paul.

This is I believe 4x4, that's what the "synchro" means.

Yes, it's a 4X4. With the rear engine these are incedible off-road. Watch videos of "Hummer Rescue Vehicles" here:

http://www.busman.be/

"Swimcro" and "Danger" videos are the best.
