Help- Proper usage of intransitive verb

So, my friend told me "not to ask her how her thesis is progressing."I thought for a minute about asking her "how progresses your thesis" but I wasn't sure if that was the correct usage of the intransitive verb progresses. Any thoughts?

Wow...if you must obsess, why not "how progresseth thine thesis?"...then ask her if she would like to "make the beast with two backs"...to quote Shakespeare.
