Time for another gun thread.
My latest addition is a BCP .45 ACP built on an Essex frame and slide:

Nice.
Although it would look a lot nicer resting in my hand out at Wades. :) |
I like tha 45acp. That is what I carry.
|
Maybe we need to have a Pelican night out to Wade's for those of us here.
I went out with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago, first time I had a chance to shoot a handgun. It was a blast (pun intended) We shot a couple of .22 plinking guns and then various 9mm. I want to shoot more of a variety of stuff before I decide on what to get if/when I pick one up. Out of what we shot though, I really liked the 9mm Sig. |
i'm up for that...never get a chance to do any time at the range.

So you rented pistols at Wades then? Just curious, but did you bring one pistol in with you? Often times ranges won't let you rent their guns if you don't bring one of your own in. Maybe if it's forcast to rain on one of our XXX 2nd Saturdays we could shoot inside of drive? Pretty sure teener and slater could be talked into it...;) Edit: teener is quick. |

Looks good. I have always prefered the more understated 1911, with just a few practical modifications to enhance shootability. I like the black finish with the red grips too. So when do you want to shoot it?

The red grips were just a coincidence as they are thicker than the ones we planned on using. Notice the flaired back strap too. I've got some big paws. Wednesday after work. I sent you a heads up to your work email...you must be playing direct-hire-hooky today. :D |

you wanna draw? |
I'm seeing how well I can adapt to the contractors' life style. Actually, I've been sicker than a dog all weekend.
Wednesday? Darn; that's the Alfa club track day I signed up for. We will be going until dark. I'll have to catch up with you another day to try out the .45. |
Looks like Rosewood Grips...with the orginal Colt 1911 Diamond pattern in the checkering... ohhh well what do I know???

Hey, that's not CHROME!!! |
Brushed chrome. I hate CHROME guns too. Now it will last forever.

Yep, that's the biggest we shot, but it was a first time thing to get used to the safety rules, loading stuff, etc., and there were 4 of us sharing a couple of lanes, so we didn't go through too many, I think we tried 6 different guns in that session if I remember right. A couple of .22s, the Sig, a couple of Glocks, and one other 9mm.

Them's cannons. |
4?
How about 3-5-7? Now thats a hand cannon! Find some couple on a date shooting a .22 together. Get in the lane next to them and start shooting a .357 snub nose. They will quickly decide its time for ice cream. |

Last time I was at the range shooting my .357 Mag the guy in the next stall whipped out one of these and started blasting away: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1148413643.jpg The only difference was that his gun had a longer barrel and no scope. ;) |
Happiness is a caliber beginning in "4" - .44 Special, .44 Mag, .45 ACP, and the grandaddy of them all, the .45 Colt.
300 grain bullets over case fulls of Winchester #296 pistol powder in either the .44 Mag or .45 Colt and you've damn near reached nirvana... Either one will make that little .357 snubbie look like... well... a .357 snubbie. Poodle-shooter at best... |
Hmmm what about 44/40????
|
Oh, the humanity - I forgot one of the best. How could I? I hang my head in shame....
