Time for another gun thread.

My latest addition is a BCP .45 ACP built on an Essex frame and slide:

Nice.

Although it would look a lot nicer resting in my hand out at Wades.

Maybe we need to have a Pelican night out to Wade's for those of us here.

I went out with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago, first time I had a chance to shoot a handgun. It was a blast (pun intended)

We shot a couple of .22 plinking guns and then various 9mm. I want to shoot more of a variety of stuff before I decide on what to get if/when I pick one up.

Out of what we shot though, I really liked the 9mm Sig.

Rob,

So you rented pistols at Wades then? Just curious, but did you bring one pistol in with you? Often times ranges won't let you rent their guns if you don't bring one of your own in.

Maybe if it's forcast to rain on one of our XXX 2nd Saturdays we could shoot inside of drive? Pretty sure teener and slater could be talked into it...

Edit: teener is quick.

Looks good. I have always prefered the more understated 1911, with just a few practical modifications to enhance shootability. I like the black finish with the red grips too. So when do you want to shoot it?

Geeze and I was so close to having it chrome plated with real elephant tusk grips...

The red grips were just a coincidence as they are thicker than the ones we planned on using. Notice the flaired back strap too. I've got some big paws.

Wednesday after work. I sent you a heads up to your work email...you must be playing direct-hire-hooky today.

I'm seeing how well I can adapt to the contractors' life style. Actually, I've been sicker than a dog all weekend.

Wednesday? Darn; that's the Alfa club track day I signed up for. We will be going until dark. I'll have to catch up with you another day to try out the .45.

I'm not sure what the real rule is on the rentals there. A friend of Rachel's from school works there, so he hooked us up on that part and just took random stuff in and out for us to check out.

Brushed chrome. I hate CHROME guns too. Now it will last forever.

The rule is that they will not rent a gun to a person who is alone, unless they have another firearm with them. Its to prevent suicides (they have had a few).

Pelican Shoot Out 2006! I am all for it.

Nice! I'm surprised the largest caliber you fired was a 9mm, or was it?

Yep, that's the biggest we shot, but it was a first time thing to get used to the safety rules, loading stuff, etc., and there were 4 of us sharing a couple of lanes, so we didn't go through too many, I think we tried 6 different guns in that session if I remember right. A couple of .22s, the Sig, a couple of Glocks, and one other 9mm.

We can fix that. Most of my handguns are in calibers that start with a "4".
