Considering that the name van Gogh is not pronounced van Go at all.....think of the Scottish word "loch" and then add a hissing "G" in front and you may get close. To some, it doesn't make sense and/or the humour is reflected back at the initiator...

If I were easily offended, I would be as offended by people mispronouncing one of my favourite artists names as I am when people call a pale yellow Dutch cheese....Gooooda instead of saying it correctly....

...ah well, y'aint much if y'aint Dutch....
