Actually, sounds like a really innovative sales technique. Kinda like the "Tony and Tina's Wedding" of sales.

Funny, that is the first thing I thought of when I read this article.

Hmmm.... Bob the "repair man" is nailing Karen "the lonely houswife" in the custom Jacuzzi garden tub (a $1700 option, see the sales rep) while Peter "the unsuspecting workaholic husband" busts his butt to make the $6000 a month mortgage payment. Water is splashing everywhere and now David the "laminate wood flooring (a $4000 Master bedroom option, again see sales rep) specialist" is called in to repair the water damge before Peter gets home.......

Yeah, I can see how this might be a hit.

Wouldn't it be more fun if home buyers witnessed the emotionally charged scene of the parents having a drug intervention with their 19 year old daughter, who is dragged screaming off to rehab?

How about dad getting drunk and abusing the wife?

Or simply hours of the obese children sitting in front of the television rotting their minds while they stuff their faces with junk food?

I really should have been in marketing.

Sounds more like an episode of just about anything on prime time TV. I'll pass thanks.

Interesting. I wonder what the results will be. The industry norm is to have the house attractively, but sparsely furnished, and to let the potential buyers alone so that they can talk freely, hopefully mentally placing their own furnishings in the home.

Seems too distracting to me, but I give them credit for trying something new.

Home Depot did a string of commercials like this, iirc. One had a couple of parents fighting heatedly with their teen-aged daughter over her low-life boyfriend, then the camera pans back to include the sales person and reveal the "bedroom" is a display. Everyone stops fighting, looks at the salesperson, and says "Feels good, will take it."

Does fake mom scream, "This is the last time I'm going to tell you, pick your D*** clothes off the floor!" at the fake kids? Now that's realism.
