Really Pat, I bet a majority of readers on this board are all for a smaller gov't , federal-state-local, but the separatist movement seems misguided, IMHO.

I can't be sure what form secession will take next time, but it's very unlikely to involve blackpowder rifles and woolen uniforms.

It could simply be a slow withdrawal of cooperation with the federal government by state and local government; which would be the smoothest and easiest form for it to take.

Look It's obvious you struggle with the fact that we support you financially now(to some degree at least) and with your positions on things...well I understand the inner struggle. Which is why I thought I might get through to you by making it personal.

When you enlisted, we didn't need you. Heck the military was already too big by a factor of at least four. But we took you in anyway, we fed you, we trained you, we housed you, and now we support you month to month. This is what a good society does Pat. That you now turn and bite our generous hand is what gets me.
