Hydrogen powered car...now?

Is this real or another flim flam? He says the car is a gas/water hybrid. Wonder how much gas he uses per 4 oz h20. Go to the Fox news video.

Geez, I can make hydrogen the same way they do. In fact I know I did, back in Chemitry class in 8th grade, in the 1970's...

If this is real and can be made affordable, it's the biggest discovery of our time. It turns the mid east back into a poor desert country and bankrupts the oil companies. If that happens, is the US economy destablized?

Electrolosis still requires some sort of power to make the electricity to make it happen....

My concern about hydrogen powered cars is that the hydrogen tank is basically a big bomb sitting in your trunk, waiting to go off. No matter what safeguards they put in place, you can never reduce the possibility of an accident to zero. And all terrorists have to do is get in the country. Then, they just buy one of these cars and they have a ready made car bomb. I imagine it would be pretty simple to delibertaly explode.

And that’s not to mention the distribution system for the hydrogen. It will be vulnerable to both accidents and deliberate attacks.

Exactly. If they can provide reliable real-time volumes with very little power usage it could change the way a lot of things are done. All for the better. The biggest problem is can they produce more usable energy than they use+lose?

Here's some intersting info on this topic. Be sure to read the discussion tab too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown%27s_gas

People on a science forum are skeptical that his is practical as the company is selling it.

Hydrogen is substantially more explosive than gasoline.

No, it is not. It contains far less energy for the same volume. It is easier to set off though.

Really. I think I have a perpetual motion machine you might be interested in...

Hydrogen from water is STORED energy. You will never get out more than you put in, or even the same.

When in doubt, look to my avatar...

Sorry, sarcasm does not come accross well in text. I should have separated the sentences a little and used some of these guys.

I thought that the "biggest problem" would have given it away but oh well...
