Without having to look at your link it sounds like Bill Cosby... I have to agree with Bill....he makes some fkin sense...instead of handouts designed to be handups...you gotta do it yourself...
An old friend of my Daddys (85 years old) told me an econ prof of his back in the 30s said, "The poor will always be with us." That means that no matter how much or how hard one tries there are some people you just can't help.

The numbers that stuck out to me in the article were a 50% high school drop-out rate, 25% incarceration rate, and 70% unemployment rate amoung black men. Those numbers are outrageous! While "the poor will always be with us", I don't think that even that sentiment can fully explain these numbers. Neither can racism.
I think the (lack of) sense of personal responsibility among black men explains the most. When you go into adult life convienently blaming racism for your believed destiny as a failure, there is no motivation to try. Fatalism is killing black America. I think that entitlement programs, while creating a "floor " for some, also create a "ceiling" for many more.

My brother travels to Ghana on a regular basis on business. You should see some of the artwork and detailed craftsmanship out of that little country. Not to mention they do something unusual: They teach comparative religions in their schools as well as (my God.How dare they?) family values. The religions are taught as simply the ways in which people worship...no sides or preferences made. Order their textbooks to see how it is done. Here, no one dare mention religion of any kind, even if it is for educational purposes. Same with family values, spelling out the duties and responsibilities of each family member such as respect, understanding, obedience of children to mention a few...
Imagine teaching and expecting tolerance and understanding...What a novel concept!!

What do the above all have in common?....They accepted and practiced the Judeo-Christian philosophy and ethic...They rejected mother Africa and her decay and prospered because of the superior philosophy and religion of Christ.
The decay in urban black America does, unfortunately, parallel the brutality and decay in Africa...They have nobody to blame except themselves and the poverty-pimps of the Democrat party. |
