Visited cadavar exhibit this weekend, very cool.
Went to Tampa this week this weekend to do the Busch Gardens thing with another couple and hit up Berns steak house for some excellent food. Anyway, my fiance the nurse has been dying to see the Bodies exhibit at the Museum of Science Institute for a while now and we finally got a chance to go.
All the peices in the exhibit are REAL and have been preserved by polymerizing (is that a word?) the entires body then acid peeling the unwanted layers (ie. skin). It was pretty crazy to see the complete interworkings of the body using the actual peices. Really graffic. The only part that was a tad extreme for me was the "Fetus Exhibit". Dead babies in jars with tumors, deformities, etc. Pretty intense. The other girl that was with us started freaking out a little. This is a must see if it comes to your area. http://www.mosi.org/ If you want the best steak you've ever had try Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa. Ask for the "Tour". The take you thru the kitchen to the largest private wine collection in the US (over 100,000 bottles) right there in the basement. http://www.bernssteakhouse.com |

I've wanted to check out that exhibit for some time - sounds really interesting.
Don't know about going to a steak house right afterwards though. That's probably a little twisted.

I make a trip over to Tampa purely to go to Berns about once every 2 years. I went to a place in South Beach called "The Forge" they claim to have the best steak in the country, it was expensive and well written about in local magazines, also the Concierge at the Ritz we were staying at approved of our choice to go there. They could not come close to Berns quality or tenderness. Plus all of Berns steak is from their own farm raised cattle. Their salad, vegatables etc.. all grown on their own farm organically. We plan on taking some friends there this month to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. Also - The fresh fish is REALLY fresh. They have huge saltwater tanks in the kitchen holding the fish, they are pulled and cooked to order. I will never know if the fish is good though. I go purely for the steak.

I was at the Plastinations Lab at the University of Michigan on the 19th. Saw some pretty good specimens. Also go to see how they preserved the bodies. Very interesting.

Also, aside from the 'tour' (a must) at Bern's, don't forget to 'reserve' the coffee/desert area.
Bern's is a MUST for anyone going to the Tampa area, been there many times (about once a week for over six month while in a project at PriceWatherhouse) always excellent, great service, the wine list is just a piece of art and amazingly not that expensive
