bang or abstain before the "big game"

The g/f asked this question, and I know my answer but I figured I'd throw it out to the washed masses. On the even of a time trial event, she questioned whether it was better for me to "get some", or abstain. I guess there are varying camps about this, but my answer is clear and has nothing to do with abstaining. Staining maybe, but not abstaining.

Anyone here "save their essence" before the big game?

Abstention is myth. "Doing it" releases a huge dose of male hormones, making you more manly.

If you don't have much testosterone to begin with, you might want to save it...

Yeah, I mean, he's willing to abstain for a freaking local time trial??? Uh, it's not the Indy 500 or the Monaco GP we're talking about, is it?

umm...err...I didn't say I was willing. I merely said that the g/f asked the question and was wondering what other people's answer would be.

Actually, I think I read a study somewhere, once. (Mebbe back in a college sports psychology class--the article dealt with professional soccer teams?) They asked that exact question, and I think the conclusion of the paper was to abstain for the 24 hrs leading up to the big event. Of course, YMMV.

With the World Cup starting soon, get ready to read stories about the teams abstaining from any extra-curricular activities.

The question I'd ask myself would be what potential is there here? If you feel there's some future here then go for it. If you feel like you'll kick her to the curb afterwards then don't even take it to that point.

Long ago the Rangers were based on Long Island and lived here in my town with it's rink, pool, boardwalk, beach, etc. It's an athlete's pardise to live in compared to the rest of metro. First year here led to low performance during games. The second year all single players were not allowed to live here. By the fourth year they had to pull out altogether as the game was falling apart. The bar maids and girl bar culture was their doom... Those Canadians and Wisconson type guys didn't let their meat loaf.
true story.
