LOL... fill me in

OK, I've only been a member for a year and I've seen LOL posted a lot. What the heck does it stand for?? I thought at first it meant "Lots of Luck", then maybe "Lord, Oh Lord". I'm ready for the ribbin', but I gotta know. What is LOL?
I don't want to be giving the wrong people 'Lots of Love' if I've misunderstood.

When I first began to use this board over a year ago, all the acronyms were a mystery. In some cases I had no idea what the person was talking about.
It would be a good idea, if it hasn't already been done, to list the common and maybe even some of the not so common acronyms for those of us not up to speed with short hand communication.
TIA,

This list might be a little long, but believe me, there are lists with 1000's of obscure acronyms used on BBS's and email.

Here's one for you guys to figure out. SWMBO

First heard it on a hobbiest machine board but has nothing to do with machining.
