Very similiar, even in name to the "Buffel" APC used in South Africa during our (in)famous border war from as early as the middle 70's. When I was a lot younger I had a friend who's dad worked at the facility where battle damaged APCs were brought for repairs, and it struck me even back then how extremely safe and bulletproof these things were.

OK, so the Humvee looks cool and intimidating, but if I had to choose, this (the Buffalo) is what I'd prefer between myself and a mine or AK.
