All Forum Members: Check out www.mid9.net!

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to invite all the pelican community to view the 'official opening' of the new mid-year group.."mid9" at www.mid9.net :)

Special thanks goes out to Smitty (k9handler) for hosting the site and professional web-developer, steve (project911) for his unceasing efforts in design work. Thanks again, guys!

Hope everyone enjoys a visit to the site..as with all pelican members, we're equally devoted to the task of promoting all things porsche.. :)

Wow, the website is very nicely done. Too bad I sold my mid-year just this week:(

JohnJL 06-13-2006 12:41 AM

Since we're in 2006 now, 74-77 should no longer be called "mid years." Sorry, you're "early" now. ;-)

Nice site, congrats.

bigchillcar 06-13-2006 08:03 AM

idiot (village) ;) ...say it ain't so! :D

thanks, john..we're proud of how it's coming along. lot's of great p-car folks are contributing..not all 'mid-year' ones either.. :)

Nice site, congrats.

John, That's heresy here!:D I tend to agree with you but most will not. In the old days (not so long ago) you'd have been flamed at the stake for even making that comparison. Funny how times change!

Nevertheless, these are now well-seasoned cars with the youngest of them being 30 years old. Lots of work having been done to them in most cases. Thanks for noticing and making your positive comments.

bigchillcar 06-13-2006 10:23 PM

lol. :D

JohnJL 06-14-2006 01:40 AM

Don't get me wrong...I love them all...I'll be in LA, Seattle and NY on a buying trip in late July...looking to fill a container with 68-73 911s.
Not prejudiced against the mid-years, but pre-74 can remain LHD in OZ.

Again, congrats on the site!

Looks great, Ryan!

Well done ! I will take a sneak peak once in a while, despite my too 'modern' model. :D

Ok - I know I must be stoooopid, but what's with the name? Why Mid9?

bigchillcar 06-14-2006 08:24 AM

thanks, guys.. (btw, you did say 'bra', doug..or was it julie who said it..uh huhuhuhuhuhuh..shut up beavis!) ;)

sure..party crashers are welcome. only requirement is that you purchase a middie within the following 12 months. :D now, that's not asking much at all..everyone could use another p-car! :) (we will be going around checking garages..)

simple...it only took a half-dozen candidate 'names' and five polls to choose it.. :p

daepp - If you do a search there is more on why that name got chosen than you EVER wanted to know!

A shorter answer is that we wanted a place of our own and the '74-'77 models have been referred to as "Mid Years" (and mostly derogatorily so) for a long time. The idea of a club came up in a looong thread I posted when I bought my car over a year ago. Many of us felt the use of "Gruppe" in any way was too derivative of the RGruppe and Gruppe B guys. Personally, I kinda wanted a name that teased fun over our prior negative rep, but in the end I was happy with Mid9. Plus we can collectively be referred to as the Mid9'ers which is semi-cool.

Pelican will always be the one for all air cooled and some watercooled eras and years!

Ryan, Donny, Steve, Bill, et al - I've got my printer source checking the cost of Mid9 stickers. I want them to be done on clear background and be UV resistant - no cheapazz fading stickers fo us. Plus, I want to use the drop shadow too. It looks okay without it, but with it, it is a classic IMHO! I'll post when I get a cost. These are still for Mid Year owners only, is that still the consensus? I hope so.

well, i'd bet that serious interest would in fact be mostly limited to owners of mid-year cars. but if someone without one desired one, i don't see a problem with extra advertising? it just helps get the club's name out there more i'd think..but i really don't have a strong opinion one way or the other i guess. what do you think?
