It's just about a done deal now. Had lunch with my buddy's boss today and it's just a matter of paperwork now. Week long training starts Aug. 1 and will be either in NY, Dallas or Jacksonville. My friend is starting me off on a non-recoverable draw equivalent ot my current base salary and swears I'll have commission checks coming in by the third month. So I can handle this transition. Looking forward to no more commuting and some new challenges. Especially looking forward to the crazy money opportunity and getting outside my comfort zone for the first time in a while. Bad thing will be giving my notice when my boss gets back from vacation next week.

Rick,
Do not burn the bridge in case it does not work out. You might not ever work there again but a reference always helps. Good luck and hope everything works out. If you go to Dallas, email me about where to live. JoeA

No, I would never even think of leaving here on bad terms. My current boss is the best one I've ever had and I truly love the place. I won't be moving to Dallas, though I've lived there before. And I know it's pretty hot there now. But it's my first choice for training, since I can CCW there and wouldn't mind meeting up with some old friends.

Rick..
You fool!! Don't you remember that you should have been helped along at an early age and shown the true path to the perfect career? (reference to a former thread about "career guidance") P.S. Good luck. The fun is in the journey, not the destination!!
