Ticket #11 this morning. Yeeppeee!!!

Rolled thru a stop light this morning due to the insane traffic that is on the road I was getting on to. BUSTED!!

I haven't had a ticket in 7-8 years. $178 buckaroos.

I'm just going to do the online school and pay the fine.

I hate tickets like that. I would much rather get a speeding ticket...more fun and more justifyable (sp?) than rolling a red getting into heavy traffic.

Re: Ticket #11 this morning. Yeeppeee!!!

It must be ticket season. It's been about 5 years since my last one, and I got pulled this morning on my way to work.... for not using my turn signal.
Quote:
Friendly officer:
You changed lanes without signalling, then a few blocks down you turned without signalling. I could write you multiple tickets for wreckless driving, but this time I'll let it go with a reduced charge that carries a fine only. I could write this for up to $350, but will let it go for half - unless you decide you need to fight it in court.
Excuse me???? Not using a turn signal now equals wreckless driving??
Sure. Whatever. I think the second and third sentence really spells it all out, when he decides to extort money from me.

I guess I should be happy that he didn't write "wreckless driving" tickets that I would have to fight in court. That would have really taken more time and money. (which is probably what they count on)

Just take the reduced ticket and show up in court anyway. It's your right and the cop's 'tude may help you court.

Got a reckles driving ticket about 9 years ago in Jasper, GA. I was behind a Ford Probe Turbo that was trying to get me to race. He would slow down to 25-30mph (55mph zone, two lane road) and when I would signal to pass, he would floor it. Well, I put up with this for about 5 attempts and then I got fed up. As we started going up a mountain, I geared down, no signal and flew past him. As I passed, he swerved toward me. I just kept the hammer down and left him behind. What I didn't know was there was a cop coming up a driveway and saw the pass. I saw distant blue lights and knew they were for me so I pulled over to the side and waited, and waited, and waited. His Crown Vic was smelling hot when he finally pulled in behind me. Told me he clocked me at 50something but I got out of sight of the radar and he "knows I was going substantially faster." He told me he was ticketing me for reckless driving. I tried to explain my actions but he was not hearing it. Went to court and there were 37 out of 50 traffic tickets charged with reckless driving. Standard procedure was to plead to a moving violation with no points but pay the reckless driving fee..$375.00 plus $50.00 court cost. No, this wasn't a racket.............

Wish I had the time, but the loss of money made at work would be counterproductive.

mscheup, I thought the same exact thing, lol. All my previous tickets were speeding. My best was 91 in a 35 racing a Buick Grand National in a Supercharged 94' mustang I owned for a breif period.

I was in a left turn lane one time on the GSXR. As the light changed and we went around the corner, all the cars in front of me moved to the far right lane. I, of course, let rip with the throttle and got up to the posted 45 in first gear. Well when I get to the next red light, this cop car comes flying up lights and siren and pulls me over.

His exact words, "I was three cars behind you when you turned. I heard you accelerate and I hit the lights and siren. You just walked away from my car like I was standing still. You must have been doing like 90."

Result: He wrote me a careless driving ticket.

Who won? A friend of mine just sold a GN, they can move pretty fast in a straight line.

We were nose to nose when I saw the flickering lights behind me. I'd say it was a mid to low 13 sec car, nothing more.

Problem is, their attitude does not show up in court and they know it. It is your word against theirs. Do you really think any cop would fess up to saying anything like that in court?

This whole situation has long since gotten out of hand. Cops can write any kind of moving violation they please at the time and have absolutely no burden of proof whatsoever if it ever does go to court. Is there anything we, as citizens, can do to correct this situation?
